Good fill level, but cork in poor condition.
It eventually dropped into the bottle prior to decanting.
Very evolved hue, which is not surprising for a 87 year old Barolo.
The aromatics are, undoubtedly, the best part of this wine: beautiful tertiary notes with intense mineral , spicy and iron character. A "meaty" character to the nose and leather.
The palate showed a very nice texture and excellent length.

Light yellow in color with a golden hue.

Nice Riesling nose with diesel notes and citrus.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Showing citrus, ripped lemons, apples, spices, light diesel and light honey.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a tangy finish.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself.

A bit different than my last bottle 4 years ago. That was tight as nails and bigger and meatier. This one had a lot of that structure but softened in a good way over a 2 hour decant. This is a really delicious white wine. From a grape varietal that was almost extinct but it certainly seems fully alive and well. Lots of lemon, mango, a creamy texture. A really great mouthfeel. Seek it out it’s good stuff. 94 points. (61 views)

A light Burgundian looking Nebbiolo, which had a silky yet still tannic backbone with usual character of the grape.
