So shut down on PNP. Dumb on the nose, but showed promise in the glass. Decided to let this sit in the decanter for at least an hour to see if it would open up... And it did!

Crunchy, dry and bright. Plenty to like with a bit of tar, chocolate, and minerality. That's day one.

Darker fruited on day two which suits me just fine.

Fantastic bouquet of black cherry with lots of spices and tobacco. Exotic spices continue into the palate complementing layers of black fruits. The structure is soft and fully integrated.

Undoubtedly, it is a special wine with strong character and unique personality. (1 view)

I found it a bit green/weedy: the fruit was subdued, and the intensity below average. I tasted some secondary flavors, but not enough to be interesting. Just meh overall. Tasted two bottles a week apart. (4 views)

Great vineyard, great producer, what could go wrong? Much more of a traditional Sonoma cabernet nose than I expected - black and red fruits, solid dose of vanilla. Moving past that, it has an almost roasted sweet red pepper note that is very appealing and a nice dose of bay leaf or eucalyptus that I associate with Moon Mountain. Palate much crispier than the nose. Acid and fruit in good balance, tannins probably still need some time to resolve. Should get much better when that creamy wood integrates more and the tannins settle down. I'm enjoying it just fine the way it is but happy I have another bottle!

Edit: An hour later I get this really clear peach note on the nose, not sure I've ever experienced this in a red wine before. Anyone know what I'm talking about here? Am I confusing it with another smell? (17 views)

The bouquet is wonderful. Flavor profile is a little tart but gentle and very currant-focused. Lingers a while and finished surprisingly strong. (17 views)

Blueberry compote. If you love extracted fruit Napa style, you'll rate this higher than I do. A younger me would have extolled this wine. An older me enjoys it but suffers from the excess. (15 views)

Ok so tried this blind and thought it was a $15 cheap Cabernet from chile. Floral over load with paint thinner, spice and sweeter fruit. Short uninspiring finish. (28 views)

Been a long week home with a 2 year old recovering from surgery. Had this with a prime ribeye cap.

First thought upon smelling while pouring into decanter was “coconut!” Is there American oak used here? I guess I’d be a little surprised if there was, but whatever. It’s not off putting, just maybe a bit unexpected?

After a bit of time (say an hour) and I pour a taste, thoughts went to, “Damn, I opened this way, WAY too early.”

Soft edged tannins and a muted (but delicious) mouth of dark red fruits with cream that lasts nearly a minute.

Now, with dinner, about 1.75 hours in decanter, this thing is starting to unfurl a bit. Parts that were great, but maybe disjointed, started to fall into place.

This is quite good, but I would imagine this won’t start to really show anything close to its best stuff for another 3-5 years minimum. I know I wont revisit either of my two remaining bottles until at least 2028-2029. I say 93 now, but with a 94-96 upside. (29 views)

Herbal, red and black fruit on the nose. Taste has already integrated the tannins, but not to a smooth level yet but well along the way. Red mountain dusty with a long finish. (12 views)

Few hours decant. Beautiful wine. Plushy dark fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg, fennel, vanilla wafers, sweet tobacco and coffee beans. This is from Moon Mountain ‘21 vintage. Nice acidity, chewy tannins on long finish.
This to me held better than the twice as pricey as Realm Farella ‘18

Still drinking really well. Tannins fully resolved (if there ever were any), still good dark fruit, plush mouthfeel, and a long finish. Tasted younger than it was, but really exactly what you want in a medium aged Napa cab. (13 views)
