2010 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/13/2024Schiffy95

Blackberry fruit with notes of violet, tobacco and forest floor. Gains more complexity after an hour decant with additional notes of dried cherries and vanilla. Tannins are super smooth…this wine is entering its premier drinking window. (240 views)

2006 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/14/2024geraldsng

I think I prefer Barton in “off” years because there is a pleasing rusticity to them and also you can drink them before 30 years. Quite juicy in fact. Very graphite and CS heavy. Bit of stem character but being Barton there are zero stems. Should have decanted this way longer but needs must. (361 views)

2000 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/13/2024rossi.wine95

Tasted next to 2001 Leoville Las Cases. Spices on the nose, dark fruit, cigar box and again graphite. Great balance, quite bright despite the ripe, generous fruit, well integrated tannins. Not quite as majestic as the LLC, but really excellent. Very persistent and vibrant finish. Drink or keep. 94-96 (621 views)

2008 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/12/2024Arch5791

Drank with my wife for Mother’s Day, unfortunately by ourselves as our kid’s were busy. She enjoys soft mature wines, while I lean towards more vibrant offerings. This was textbook left bank with graphite, cedar and tobacco aromas. Tannins seemed pretty resolved so at least this bottle seemed at maturity. Not much fruit for my liking but enjoyable enough. 1998 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/12/2024Geoff94

My cellar since release, low to mid neck fill, pristine cork, five hour slo-ox, then decanted off sediment. Deep dark color with no evidence of browning. Beautiful nose of cedar, oak, red and dark fruit, tobacco, leather, spicebox. Sweet tannins mildly present. Medium to full bodied. Everything in balance with a long memorable finish. A very enjoyable wine, indeed! Matched well with baby back ribs. (173 views)

2005 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/9/2024wineotim94

Second review of this, I liked this more way back in 2014. Anyway, this is hugely structured with firm and almost endless tannin now, the dark fruit is more reserved and elegant. The tannic structure is predominate and dominating. A ton of sediment and crusting here. This is all about structure, structure, structure. I'm scoring this almost the same as my first review but to be clear the fruit is now elegant and complex, pencil lead and graphite are in control now. (1244 views)

2014 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/9/2024Motz94

Bold bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, pepper garden, mint, hints of juniper, drying tobacco, and mineral ores. Wholly expressive of Saint-Julien. The oak, consistently a touch heavy from this producer, appears to be integrating.

Stylistically reflective of this rugged, understated vintage. Tangy attack, akin to blackcurrant juice. The middle just brings it...in every good way! Wow! Striking tension between expansive rusticity and compact restraint. The middle reveals considerable gritty tannins and the back features them. The finish grips and holds a long while.

A serious wine, with no less than a decade of evolution ahead. The tannin initiated might find checking in on a bottle informative now. All others, recommend waiting at least five years. Likely best round or about 2040, perhaps through 2044. Improvement seems possible...if not likely. 94-95. (1649 views)

2000 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/7/2024PSPatrick94

A blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. 12.5% ABV. Bottle and cork in pristine condition. The wine was very tight upon opening, so I chose to decant for three hours in the morning, and poured the wine over dinner. Dark garnet colour. Red and dark fruit, red cherry, blackberry, black currant, tobacco, some chocolate, some coffee, graphite, spices, light smoke, and pebbly minerality, with good, fresh acidity, mostly resolved tannin, and superb length. Medium-bodied, with a smooth, creamy texture. Well balanced and very harmonious. A great Bordeaux! Drink now with extended aeration and enjoy, or hold for ten years. (1485 views)

2023 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/4/2024Jeff Leve94

Black cherries, mint, cigar box, flowers, and cassis form the core of the perfume here. On the palate, the concentrated wine offers a big, chewy mouthful of black currants, spice, peppery herbs, and sea-salt. The finish has real staying power. The wine is the quintessential description of a modern version of a classic vintage. The wine is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, 13% ABV. The harvest took place September 9 - October 2. The length of picking is the key to the success of the vintage here. Drink from 2028-2060. 93-95 Pts. (902 views)

Decanted for 3 hours (it was not enough… the last glass was better than the first one). Great progress since my last tasting in 2018. Excellent today but probably even better in a couple of years (2527 views)

2010 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 5/2/2024WineTraveler4296

Opened 3 and a half hours before drinking. Decanted an hour before dinner. Beautiful garnet color. Well balanced alcohol and acidity. Solid tannic structure. On the nose and palate VERY tight at first. As it opened, tobacco and tar brightened quickly into dark fruits and then cassis, progressed to eraser/menthol (light) with hints of chocolate, acacia, musk, slightly floral as it opened. Wow. Gorgeous. (1771 views)
