A wonderful Meursault with ripe yellow fruit, dried tropical extract, minerals, spice and lemon curd. The palate had sharp acidity to compliment the voluptuous fruit. It was deep and round with lots of energy. Very good for the vintage. (163 views)

WSET Teaching Level 3 for Burgundy (Stellenbosch): (Tasted Blind): A mid-garnet core with mahogany edges. Tertiary notes of earth, cola tonic, wood smoke, dried undergrowth, and a touch of leather with iron bru.
The wine is medium to full-bodied with some age and evolution reflecting the tertiary nose elements, adding stewed fruit, prunes, sultana and wet spiced biltong. The mid-palate starts to reveal a stalky stem quality heightened by the vibrant acidity, and then the finish becomes quite distracting with a shoe leather quality and hard-edged tannins blunting the length. Beautiful nose with ripe yuzu lemon, oak spice. This is quite rich and broad, as typical for the 2016 vintage. Unctuous, Grand Cru Level mouth feel, medium complexity. Luckily the acidity is there to support the pillowey palate. (459 views)

Light years ahead of the '14 Neillon from tonight.

Light yellow in the glass with white florals and citrus notes on the nose. Palate feels 5 years younger than the Neillon from just before it. Great acidity and wet stones on the palate. A very nice wine! (but a difficult price point for me). Thanks Ken, for this one! (494 views)

Still some oak on the nose, but subdued and well integrated, which also shows pears, a hint of aniseed and overall nice complexity. Firm and sharp on the palate, but with substance too. When cold, it showed a finish on grapefruit. Very nice. (72 views)
