Five (5) years since last visit. Decanted three (3) hours. Considerably improved from prior visit. Deep purple in color. Offers ripe aromas of blueberry, blackberry, plum & currant with accent of lavender. Densely packed with weighted presence on the palate. Warm fruit flavors are joined with dusty earth, graphite and slate. Provides dry evenly distributed gripping finish. Squarely in its drinking window and likely not to peak any further. A big wine that deserves a hearty accompaniment. Drink over next 3-5 years. (75 views)

PnP but allowed some time in the glass. Drank alongside '12 Dakota Shy Moulds vineyard. This wine showed much brighter fruit...along the red/blue spectrum as opposed to the Dakota Shy which was blue/black. The Hourglass was an enjoyable medium-to-full bodied wine. (139 views)

Easter Sunday, cowboy bone in ribeyes. My son and wife keep bringing up the ‘16 Hourglass Blueline Cab we had to celebrate his birthday. So, I saw an opportunity to pop a ‘19. two hours slow ox, double decant. Ripe Calistoga fruits, blackberries, blueberries, and Morello cherries. Forest floor, currant leaf, hint of mocha. Great energy, young. Perfectly delicious but best tea in another year.

This ‘19 Estate has phenomenal purity and richness of fruit displaying. The color is bright bright purple to magenta, barrage of scrumptious barrel spices to go along with the dark berry fruit, with hints of herbs, vanilla, sweet tobacco and chocolate mint. On the palate lemon grass, stone, light petrol.

Similar notes as our last tasting of this wine. Lots of dark fruits in the nose and flavor, black currants, black cherries, plums, licorice and a hint of mint in the nose. Black cherries, blackberries. and chocolate in the flavor. Medium to full bodied, nice complexity, well balanced and a long finish. 94/95 (173 views)
