1996 Hop Kiln / HKG Wines Zinfandel Marty Griffin's Big Red (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 9/26/2010Bobamus88

I am not a professional taster and rarely leave public notes, but I felt compelled to leave one for this bottle. This is a table wine that I thought I'd lost. I paid $10 for it back in '98. It was nothing complex, but I thought I'd enjoy it with spaghetti or ribs. I found it last year under my dad's house, right where I left it. I put it in my cellar last year and when a friend came over (who was with me when I originally purchased it) for dinner I decided to pop it open. We weren't sure if it was going to be any good. We were surprised! It was smooth, pleasant on the palate...again nothing complex, but very drinkable. (1298 views)
