Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.6 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Soteralzowine on 4/24/2021 & rated 92 points: Fragrant nose of plums, blueberries. Popped and poured. Right from the get got there was Excellent balance, well integrated, velvety tannins - although it likely could evolve even more for five years or so; it is difficult to asses whether it had the structure to improve beyond 2026. Could be... Bursting with fruit and lot’s of secondary notes of leather, bramble, tobacco, some vanilla. Medium to long after taste. Very enjoyable wine, very much along the lines of a fine Bordeaux. We have two more bottles and will revisit in three to five years. (906 views)
Tasted by Marmaras on 12/31/2020 & rated 93 points: Tried this wine for the first time. And a direct hit! Great bouquet of red fruits, finely balanced tannins, velvety finish. Definitely worth the price! (837 views)
Tasted by Papies on 9/4/2020 & rated 91 points: The best French wine made in Greece as we always say. This time in much better conditions than last and once again like vintages before it delivered what it came to do.
At age 7 it is now well in its full stride and at the peak of its drinking window. Has assimilated its baby fat and oak and is full on silky and round. Good dark fruits, solid core and structure and just delicious and so nice to be enjoyed at this stage. 90-91 and a very safe choice as long as one does not look for Greek Typicity. This is modern wine making done good and consistent and deserves the credit. (1252 views)
Tasted by Papies on 8/27/2020: Not a full on TN here due to not perfect conditions hence no rating albeit pretty much felt like a 90 like the last 2 times we had it about a year or so ago.
Modern in a good way and pretty much h a very dependable wine year in year out. We always call this the best French wine made in Greece and that sums it up from the blend to oak use to consistency and elegance. Solid and well in its drinking window. Should have be a 90 but we will not rate this time. (1247 views)
Tasted by Papies on 5/22/2019 & rated 90 points: Second time we cross paths with this wine in 1 month and very much consistent as always and in a good time in its drinking window. Very solid 90 (1540 views)
Tasted by Papies on 4/19/2019 & rated 90 points: The best French wine made in Greece and easily the most consistent well made red wine in the land strikes again.
Bordeaux in style here, good ripe soft edged fruit, good use of oak, welcoming and with lots of depth of flavour. Felt bang on in its drinking window at this stage and a solid 90 (790 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
