2007 Vice Versa Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, California, Napa Valley) 12/1/2018Yack Man91

Surprisingly underwhelming as I expected more, but not bad either. The wine is cork was saturated dark purple with a stained residue build up, typically a good sign in my experience, in the glass, a very different story. The color was a translucent purple color, but the wine was not the full bodied Cabernet that I anticipated. The wine was a bit tight and it never really opened up so after a glass, I put the cork in the bottle for day 2. This was a better experience, the wine showed more on the elegant side, medium dark berry fruit, plum and currant fruit, but this wine was rather soft, elegant and smooth on the palate, but rather uninspiring. 91 Points. Incredible smoothness on this impeccably made Paul Hobbs produced Cab. Wish I had more as this went well with the beef bourgoignon that i served. (9812 views)

2007 Vice Versa Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, California, Napa Valley) 9/1/2012d'Artagnan92

92+ pts (10212 views)

2007 Vice Versa Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, California, Napa Valley) 6/9/2012gcarl95

Dark, foreboding upon P&P, peppery nose with lots of very dark fruit and subdued oak upon swirling. After being open a bit, the nose became all dark fruit and on the palate it was bottled velvet, much more refined than I would expect of a 4+ year old CA cab. This was superb throughout our meal of very rare porterhouse and twice baked potatoes stuffed w/aged white cheddar and brie. How I wish I had bought more than 2 of these at $35! I could easily have scored this higher than 95 after an hour or so. (10217 views)

mflesh, no worries. I will be happy to give it 96, possibly 97. I had this along with a Napa Valley Reserve, Rudd, Hundred Acre, and Schrader Old Sparky. To me, this was the wine of the night! Loved everything about it. Color, depth, weight, roundness, complexity, length. So well balanced, I had to look at the bottle over and over to make sure I remembered this wine. Looking forward to finding it to add to my inventory. Wow, was this good. (9886 views)

Recommended by Daniel at BackRoomWines in downtown Napa and purchased as our first bottle on our recent trip to Napa Valley AVA. This is a SOLID wine. 94, tempted to give it 95. This wine is DARK, COMPLEX...but the one thing I'll say is that the body of this wine wasn't as full bodied as other Beckstoffer ToKalon wines. Still this wine is a rock solid explanation of ToKalon Napa floor fruit, but this wine has a mountain berry complexity that really makes it shine. The wine was uncorked with a very dark stain. The wine had plum, raisin, blackberry, and even some kind of an aged characteristic to it. The wine was decanted for about an hour. The nose after decanting was very lively. Black pepper spice that stings the nostrils. Nice blackberry, plum, and an oregano nose that really gave the wine a baked pie kind of nose. The taste was all blackberry, plum, allspice in the front, with some HEAT through the mid-palate that carried to an EASY 50-second finish. Tannins were very silky, not overly ripe. Toasted oak barrel was integrated well and was present in the background throughout the entire wine. This wine can stand alone, but was paired with a spicy marinara margarita pizza. This wine will compete for the "front runner" spot so it is not a wine to pair with a delicate dish. Oh man, I really want to give this a 95, but just can't. (7485 views)
