2018 Caymus-Suisun Grand Durif (USA, California, North Coast, Suisun Valley) 11/23/2023SaraLearnsWine91

Little bit of VA when you first open the bottle so make sure to let it blow off before tasting

The wine opens up into rich complex aromas of cherry, raspberry, milk chocolate, dried herbs, a hint of menthol, and cassis. Nice ripe flavors, no steminess. Developing nicely and will continue to age well. For my palate, this is the perfect time to drink this wine

Tannins are strong and fuzzy, but not grippy or velvety. The wine has a full body and medium high acidity making for a beautiful balanced final product (723 views)

2010 Château Guiraud (France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes) 12/19/2022SaraLearnsWine93

Lusciously sweet with perfectly balanced acidity and full body. A finish that lasts for days. Drink now, or age for another 10 years

Citrus, Stone fruit, that characteristic apricot marmalade partnered with ginger, eucalyptus, Jasmine, and honey (1818 views)

2017 Provenance Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville (USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville) 11/19/2022SaraLearnsWine98

So worth the price. This wine is drinking great now, but will develop beautifully over the next 10 years

Fragrant and youthful, with bright blackberry, plum, cassis, vanilla, and a slightly minty herbal note. The figginess of age is just barely starting to slip in, while the primary fruit dances richly on the nose and palate.

Dry, medium+ acidity, full body, and delightfully velvety tannins. (413 views)

Pretty typical prosecco - off-dry with honeycomb, pear, apple, hazelnut. Maybe more nutty than fruity

2018 Berryessa Gap Zinfandel (USA, California, Central Valley, Yolo County) 11/10/2021SaraLearnsWine

Pale ruby and medium(-) body. High alcohol and medium acid, medium tannin. Almost pinot like quality. Not a wine that will age well, but a nice table wine right now. Raspberry/cranberry with some warming spices and a little vanilla. Blackberry and blueberry on the palate. Short finish. (171 views)

2019 Laird Family Estate Pinot Grigio Cold Creek Ranch (USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros) 10/4/2021SaraLearnsWine

High acid, medium body, dry. Medium intensity aromas of yellow apple, blossom, lemon-lime, pineapple. Palate feels rounder than typical pinot grigio - likely stirred lees during winemaking in a more gris style. Melon, lime, pineapple on the palate. Acidity is too astringent & needs to be paired with fatty foods to be smoothed out. Paired with roasted chicken and it was perfect (299 views)

N.V. Wagner Family of Wines Red Schooner Voyage 9 (Argentina) 10/4/2021SaraLearnsWine

Low tannins, medium body and acidity. Oak isn't well integrated, but is still pleasant. Vanilla, cinnamon, plum hits the nose first followed by black pepper, leather and cigar box, and a hint of rose petal. Bright red fruits on the palate, lots of red cherry and strawberry. Vanilla oaky finish (1090 views)

2017 Olivastri Tommaso Montepulciano d'Abruzzo La Grondaia (Italy, Abruzzi, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo) 9/17/2021SaraLearnsWine87

In Vinebox subscription
High level of chewy but soft tannin, medium (+) acid, medium finish. Complex and intense with oaky notes (charred wood, smoke, vanilla), and tertiary (wet leaves, earth) leading, blue fruit (blueberry, boysenberry, plum), dried herbs (sweet tobacco, dried oregano), and finally just a hint of strawberry on the finish. Very good quality, can drink as a standalone or with food. Would pair with bbq or stinky cheese (667 views)
