Tasted by Burgundy Al on 8/26/2023 & rated 86 points: Winefool Going Away Party and Cellar Depletion (Jack's Bistro - Chicago IL): Tasted 2 days ago, note from memory. Still nicely fresh but surprisingly simple. Others liked it more. (1013 views)
Tasted by Winokdub on 3/27/2021 & rated 89 points: No bricking and tasting mostly vibrant but lacks depth or complexity. (510 views)
Tasted by Rbtrage on 5/22/2019 & rated 88 points: Past its peak. (779 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 8/26/2017: Cellar diminishment party. (1208 views)
 Tasted by passion4wine on 2/3/2017 & rated 93 points: Lovely (823 views)
Tasted by Harry Cantrell on 6/20/2015 & rated 90 points: Deep garnet. All Pride, all the time. Syrah that reminded of a bigger Ozzie syrah. But with a Foley hand. Taste was big in the mouth, reminded of a much younger wine. But it opened with airing. Good. (2313 views)
 Tasted by johnwine on 11/15/2014 & rated 92 points: B's 70th B'Day (2309 views)
Tasted by biggwater on 5/11/2013 & rated 90 points: past its peak (2834 views)
Tasted by marka on 2/18/2013 & rated 91 points: This was really nice. I think it has about a year left which differs from the 2011 CT end of drinking window. Nice raspberry flavor with lots of spice showing up about 30 minutes after opening. Fruity nose and palate with very nice balance. Nothing -- fruit, oak, alcohol -- showing more than the other components. Wish I had more.... Had with Truckenmiller corn, Jimmy's potatoes, and Flannery hangar steak. (2895 views)
Tasted by rpenn77 on 2/2/2013 & rated 94 points: Big rich Syrah with loads of pepper and a long finish. (2690 views)
Tasted by shk5157 on 11/24/2012 & rated 90 points: somewhat subdued for Pride, but still pretty lush berry fruit (2374 views)
Tasted by strulock on 9/4/2012 & rated 90 points: Very nice. Well integrated, drinking beautifully. Light body, long finish, moderate heat. (2307 views)
Tasted by MPH on 7/22/2012 & rated 89 points: Good but more subtle than bottles consumed several years ago. Drink em if you got em. (1483 views)
Tasted by IconeWino on 5/24/2012 & rated 93 points: Wow. Round. Beautiful. Pride.

Perfect right now. (1142 views)
Tasted by EMichels on 5/12/2012 & rated 90 points: More subdued than the '05; Tastes like a warmer year; Needs a decant (1180 views)
Tasted by RR47 on 5/5/2012 & rated 88 points: This bottle has slid from earlier tastings. This was almost Merlot-like, rather than a typical Pride Syrah. Very soft, little complexity, muted cherries and raspberries. No pepper or spice. Certainly not a bad bottle, just not what you want when you open a Syrah. Tasted later: 2005 Pride Syrah. (1103 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 1/20/2012 & rated 93 points: RICH BERRY FRUIT, BLACK CHERRIES, AND HINTS OF LICORICE AND CHOCOLATE IN THE NOSE WITH BLACK CHERRIES IN THE FLAVOR. NICE COMPLEXITY AND A LONG FINISH. (179 views)
Tasted by shk5157 on 9/25/2011 & rated 89 points: Not quite as lush as a typical Pride red. Blueberry notes (1513 views)
Tasted by JBVino on 9/11/2011: As (1564 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 9/3/2011 & rated 91 points: First bottle in almost two years. This has aged very gracefully, adding complexity while retaining fruit and structure. Fairly assertive and complex nose. Blueberries, spice, white pepper, smoke, anise, and a little chocolate on the palate. Big, but not heavy-handed. Nice finish. Probably at or near its peak, although it should hold on for another couple years. (1535 views)
Tasted by RR47 on 8/20/2011 & rated 90 points: Deep dark red. Nose of blueberries, spice, pipe tobacco, and expresso. A nice mouthful of Syrah, not overblown fruit. A very long Syrah finish of 30+ seconds. Softening tannins still expressive on the finish. (1722 views)
Tasted by wabi47 on 7/22/2011 & rated 88 points: brought to guy/wende's house and not decanted; tight lean currant, licorice, veggie, heat to start; opened up considerably over an hour tho still more interesting than enjoyable; likely just shut down (1782 views)
Tasted by Mrbuzz on 7/9/2011 & rated 93 points: It's been quite awhile since I've had one of these Pride Syrahs...this '04 is rockin! Dark as night....typical Pride oozness of dark berry fruit, which has a nice silky cream to it....wonderful complexities of white pepper, coffee, anise, chocolate covered blueberries, cold smoked bacon, Kirsch liqueur, graphite dust. Little alc heat...but this is that "cool smoked blueberry" style wine, ala Lillian, that tames the heat. Has a nice integration of wood as well, giving it a nice cream with dusty tannins. Plenty of structure and fruit here for long term aging. Super tasty....totally Pride Mtn! (1876 views)
Tasted by arniec on 12/23/2010 & rated 90 points: Very un-Pride like. Very thin. No personality. Not their sweet spot. (2008 views)
Tasted by Venezia on 11/24/2010 & rated 90 points: Dark fruits, with smoke and oak. Hint of cassis and vanilla (2105 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
