Tasted by mntebolt on 4/29/2024 & rated 80 points: the boys did not like it (40 views)
Tasted by drycab on 5/27/2013: Waaaaay Past its prime which I believe was 5 years ago. Too Bad! (3793 views)
Tasted by Gobi on 3/16/2013 & rated 90 points: An opaque wine with a black core and crimson rim, very typical Cabernet driven aromas of plums, blackberries, cassis, licorice, with small hints of violets, leather, green herbs, and sweet vanilla. Smooth almost creamy on the palate with blackberries, raspberries, cherries on the attack with well integrated acidity, dark chocolate, currants, and coffee flavors on the mid-palate. The finish is of moderate length revealing plums, small hints of spices, herbs, mint, generous amounts of creamy vanilla, and discreet grainy tannins. A mid to full bodied wine that seems to show that its fruit is starting to decay, drink up soon! (3355 views)
Tasted by MPicard8 on 1/25/2013 & rated 88 points: The wine looks Brick colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like and Raisin. It tastes like and Raisin. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Narrow texture. The wine finishes Medium. (3478 views)
Tasted by The Raven on 11/8/2010 & rated 91 points: This is just a very nice wine. Nice color, great body and the tastes of plum and oak just explode in your mouth. I have drank 2 of these and they were both fantastic. (4309 views)
Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 4/25/2010 & rated 90 points: I also liked this wine. At first it was a little closed, even at 9.5 years old. Drank half the bottle, vacu-vin overnite, and big change next day. The cabernet brings in an almost Bordeaux like aroma and flavor profile. Very dark for a zin based wine. Bigger than expected, and almost heavy bodied in a rich and creamy sort of way. The nose was a pleasant earthy, granite, graphite, that is followed by what I am pretty sure is some American oak. When it opened up, there was an intense, but elegant expression of red fruit especially currant and blackberry, that is just starting to mature into some secondary flavors of carmel and licorice. Still has a pretty solid hit of tannins. May actually benefit from a couple more years. Not particularly layered or complex, but still a 90 pointer. (4517 views)
Tasted by rdsboca on 8/19/2009 & rated 90 points: This was a nice surprise. Would have guessed mostly zin. Color was still a vibrant mix of red/purple. The nose was mostly cherry, plum with still a hint of oak but not over done. Short finish and not a lot of comlexity left me wondering if this wine more fun in its younger years. (2408 views)
Tasted by jwscfa on 12/20/2008 & rated 86 points: Not up to par for the price. 2nd bottle tasted over 1 month, both seemed past their prime and somewhat flat. (2100 views)
Tasted by BigPoppaMD on 8/22/2007 & rated 90 points: I thought this was fantastic. The rest of the table was less enthusiastic. (2641 views)
Tasted by gmarcos on 8/10/2007 & rated 91 points: Explosive nose of raspberries and jaminess. Wonderfully balanced and long lasting on the palate. My guess is that their 'proprietary' blend is 70% zin and 30% cab. I say that because it exploded with fruitiness. (2531 views)
Tasted by pudljmpr on 7/21/2007 & rated 93 points: Top notch wine (2387 views)
Tasted by tfesmgk on 7/13/2007 & rated 91 points: Excellent, maybe the best Paraduxx yet. Paitence was worth it. Smooth yet flavorful without the overpowering Zin spices. (2439 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 10/9/2006 & rated 92 points: Delicious zin cab blend. Seems to bring out the best in both. surprised no one else does it.
last bottle. will have to buy more of a current vintage. (3252 views)
Tasted by grapist on 7/29/2006 & rated 91 points: One whiff tells you this is good stuff. Great nose. Tannins, acid and fruit are in balance. Dark red berries and some fresh forest floor. Was a great move to give it just a couple of minutes chill to enjoy outdoors in the summer heat. (3048 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 5/24/2006 & rated 93 points: From bottle. Has developed wonderful nuance and early complexity. Garrique, red jam, excellent finish. Exceeded expectations. 1 bottle left. (3441 views)
Tasted by Rob MacKay on 4/2/2006 & rated 89 points: 64/36 Zinfandel/Cabernet Sauvignon. A very interesting blend. Full bodied and dark in color with just a slight browning at the rim. Zesty and spicy cherries of the Zinfandel blend well with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Very good, but as with a lot of Duckhorn wines it tends to be overpriced. (3879 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 3/8/2006 & rated 92 points: Opened 15 minutes before dinner. Delicious Zin, CS, Merlot blend. Dark berry fruit, supple wine. Used PEK Argon preserver. 2nd night more pronounced perfume raspberry black currant. Needs an hour+ of air. (3656 views)
Tasted by Bunski on 12/19/2005 & rated 88 points: Zinfandel is not my cup of tea, but this was very interesting and the bottle drank very well. Full bodied with a little heath at the start which faded and solid core of fruit. Maybe I'll try another one day... (3406 views)
Tasted by EPounds on 4/2/2005: Wet earth, dark berry and a bit of spice on the nose, which was pleasant. In the mouth, it is chewy with nice berry flavors and spice. The cabernet definitely stands out in this Zin majority blend. (4025 views)
Tasted by Sausalito on 3/11/2005 & rated 90 points: The 2000 is an extraordinary wine that needs considerable aeration. We thought it was ideal a full 3 hours after opening. It allowed the blend to come into play nicely. Naturally fruity but with a bouqet that makes you want to chew it..or not drink it at all and just take in the scent. Best consumed by water in the evening. The 2001 was good but did not have the sensory overload of the 2000. (3472 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
