Tasted by RustyI on 4/28/2024 & rated 94 points: Probably the best champagne I've had. Really nice blend of slightly sweet and slightly tart and a mix of flavors (1132 views)
Tasted by kingkanu on 4/14/2024: Getting into the zone now and showing some nice toasty development (1532 views)
Tasted by Eric on 4/10/2024 & rated 96 points: Unreal. I really have no idea how Dom achieves such high quality every year. This is stunningly fresh, tense, mineral and edgy. Across two hours it opens to white chocolate, citrus, so precise. This bottle was impressively fresh, drinking so young. (1792 views)
Tasted by LIE-user on 4/3/2024 & rated 88 points: Rather disappointing. A weaker showing of my favorite champagne brand. Not the first bottle of DP04 that was disappointing. Considering the age (not old yet!) the wine comes with too many oxidative notes. A problem with my delivery years ago? Three more bottles from the same delivery, after that six from a different delivery. Let’s hope those will be better. (2057 views)
Tasted by tobyc on 3/22/2024 & rated 92 points: Delicate bouquet. Good oxidation w. rye bread and preserved yellow fruit. Rounded palate with retained acidity and gentle bubbles. Good depth and complexity, lots of autolysis, windfall apples. Very harmonious. Drink now. (1999 views)
Tasted by DAN BAILEY on 3/7/2024 & rated 94 points: Served blind. Very pale. Reductive. Fresh, clean and bright. Crazily young but very good showing. My 2nd favourite after the cristal. (1757 views)
Tasted by essenceofreal on 3/4/2024 & rated 95 points: Recently purchased from an online store. Bottle arrived in good shape, so far so good!

Opened at the sushi restaurant. First pour and it was still sleeping. This 20 yr old was like a grandpa arising from a deeeeeep slumber. 90 points. Meh. Not much other than bubbles.

After 30 minutes started to reveal itself and did a 2 step casanova. Good boy. Up to 92/93, secondary flavors emerging.

Last glass an hour later and Shamabala! Grandpa brought us to paradise )) Very very good man.

This is the Dom I love. Reminded me a bit of the 2012 creamy brioche hazelnut toasted almond delishousness. Looong finish.

This drank WAY better than the 08 Dom I had a few months ago. Also better than the 13.

I'd say this is very much at peak and probably won't get better.

Wish I had more of these but I suppose I know where to get em if I want em. I just wish I opened it a few hours in advance or decanted. I have a few 08, 12, and 13. Think I'll hit a few of the 12 as the others need more time.

Oh well, happy the last glass delivered. (2105 views)
Tasted by Adam T 12 on 3/2/2024 & rated 99 points: Remarkable. Drinking absolutely great! Enjoy (1778 views)
Tasted by Alien on 2/28/2024 & rated 92 points: Gold, clearbright. No bubbles. So much toast, Warburton toast. Even a bit char. Long nose. Deep, and sinuous. Ripe plums. Some slate. Medium finish, more fuzzy, pruney notes. (1762 views)
Tasted by WineWright on 2/28/2024 & rated 95 points: Sooo good. Posted photo. (1745 views)
Tasted by Sanfoan on 2/21/2024: The 2004 Dom Perignon Champagne has really begun to come into its own. When I last opened a bottle in December 2020, it wasn't quite there yet, but now, it's starting to show some signs of maturity. In the glass, it has a golden-yellow color. The bubbles are fine, though not as lively as before, which is to be expected. On the nose, you get hints of freshly baked bread, walnuts, a mix of orange and tangerine citrus, a hint of the sea, green apples, and perhaps pear. It's a delightful aroma that only improves if you let it breathe for a couple of hours. On the palate, the flavors mirror the scents, with signs of a bit more evolution than what you get on the nose. It's got a good amount of acidity (med+), making it refreshing, with a lasting finish (long finish). It's a great wine that's in a good spot right now, and I think it'll only get better with a few more years. I plan to check back on it in three years. (2080 views)

Tasted by heathenone@msn.com on 2/15/2024 & rated 94 points: Typical Dom. Finally showing well. I have not had great experiences in the past, but this '04 was really showing well, and the group loved it. A bit of brioche at first, then some tropical fruits, followed by a subtle hint of tangerine. Exellent! I am looking forward ot tasting more of these if they are the same as this bottle! (1743 views)
Tasted by wihong on 2/10/2024 & rated 88 points: Straw yellow. Aroma of floral, jasmine, lemon tart and sour candy. Juicy Sunkist orange at palate entry, followed by blood orange and pips. Medium long finish of high acidity and gentle caramel. This bottle is very muted and lighter bodied compared to 2.5 years ago. An ordinary Champagne with no fault but not outstanding. Hope has not peaked already. (1688 views)
Tasted by NMIZ on 2/4/2024 & rated 95 points: 2004 Dom Perignon Brut Champagne. B2L2I2C2. 95+. 53% Pinot Noir, 47% Chardonnay. Aged 8 years on the lees. 20 years old. Vivid yellow, strong aromas of fruits - pear, green apple, lemon, and grapefruit. White flowers. Bready and toastiness. Honey and almond. Bold, broad, expansive expression in the palate. Creamy crème brûlée, complex, layered, and smooth. Very long finish. Good acidity and plenty of life yet. A nice wine to start our dinner. (1855 views)
Tasted by tdiehn on 1/30/2024 & rated 94 points: Drank after 2008. Notable dosage. However, great wine. Fantastic length. Brioche. (1780 views)
Tasted by Hiker4life70 on 1/14/2024 & rated 92 points: My last bottle to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. It tastes like a dry apple tart with marzipan/burnt sugar finish. I am noticing the dosage a little more with this than prior bottles. Bubbles are present but super fine and not like prior bottles. Still enjoyable. Cheers (2051 views)
Tasted by Purple_FB on 1/4/2024 & rated 96 points: Creamy, brioche, walnut, pear - lean, classic, good acidity to cut through fried food. Drinking well (2240 views)
Tasted by MN Wine Junkie on 1/1/2024 & rated 95 points: New Years Day Champagne Tasting (Brad's Castle): Similar to last note....drinking well right now. Lots of baked fruit, spice and saline, with nice mouthfeel. Drinking well and holding steady! Solid 95! (2273 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 1/1/2024 & rated 96 points: New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Seventh Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Light gold coor. Drank a glass over 20 minutes plus. This was Champagne of the night for me just edging out the young but divine '12 Comte and the equally impressive '06 Rare. The '04 Dom continues to impress and really does have it all. The elegance is there for sure, but the intensity, harmonious feel and overall complexity is impressive. See my last couple notes for details. It's clear why the '04 P2 is so outstanding. (1864 views)
Tasted by vagrantone on 12/25/2023 & rated 94 points: Continues to drink extremely well.
Impressive after 20 years! (1684 views)
Tasted by WStubble on 12/25/2023 & rated 95 points: My last bottle of the 2004. Served chilled with smoked salmon, capers, fresh dill and chilled shrimp. Pale gold, few and fine bubbles. Very much alive and I think still had some years ahead of it. Well liked by everyone, disappeared quickly. (1674 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 12/21/2023 & rated 91 points: Holiday Champagne Gala (Wilmette Harbor Club): Walkaround gala tasting. Wonderful balance of fresh and maturing apple, some berry with good (enough) weight. At its peak. (1478 views)
Tasted by Rezy13 on 12/15/2023: Champagne Tasting $120+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Greenish yellow color, looks very similar in color to the 2014 Bollinger next to it; toast and brioche, good complexity on the nose, nice yeastiness, gasoline, eggy, lemon, steely, herbaceous and some mineral which I rarely describe DP to be; in a good spot but I'm sure a little longer wouldn't hurt, delicious mix of hedonistic creamy texture and interesting flavors. (2238 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 12/6/2023 & rated 96 points: Very grand showing. Fresh as a daisy with lot of butter croissant, citrus, white flower notes. Very expressive on the nose. Reductive, fresh palate. Excellent. 96-97 (3118 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
