| Community Tasting Notes (average 89.3 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Capt Cutlass on 6/11/2019 & rated 85 points: Blind tasted. Simple cider style, semi sweet. No length. Strange but that's Natural/biodynamic sometimes with no apparent explanation in hand... Almost worryingly dark in colour, but apparently there's a spot of botrytis in this? A little cidery and some browned apple notes here. Some oxidative tones on this as well. There's a light touch of residual sugar that help gives this some roundness, but this is a wine that needs some food to balance things out. Smells of rich tar and burning rubber and burning melon rind. Or, like someone's dirty belly button (no idea why that came to mind). Rich palate entry that's quite large with more funky, strange flavors. Mellow and rich, but somehow the whole thing remains quite enjoyable and balanced despite the oddity of the whole thing. Rich finish that's quite enticing and lovely. Big and decadent finish. (3178 views) | | Tasted by Ben H. on 9/14/2014: This needed some time to open up, starting off a little yeasty and over-sweet but eventually it bloomed, becoming elegant, mineral, perfectly balanced. A very expressive wine. Good pairing with sautéed brill and potted shrimp. (2476 views) | | Tasted by David Paris (dbp) on 5/17/2014 & rated 90 points: Spicy, herbal notes on the nose, mixed with some pickles. Nice, if slightly astringent. More spicy and herbal notes come in on the palate, but then a huge dial up of delicious sweet melon and lemon after 10 seconds. It's initially a little hard, but after just 10 seconds in the mouth this really opens up beautifully with great balance of sweet flavors and acidity. Spicy finish with a nice dial up of acid again. Really nice sweet lemon and honeydew, coupled with that great acid on the end. Very enjoyable on the palate and finish, but the aromas aren't quite up to par. (2030 views) | | Tasted by soyhead on 8/9/2013 & rated 89 points: Off dry, honeysuckle, crisp and minerally, elegant, slightly sweet for the oysters we ordered.
