Tasted by williw on 4/11/2020: Colour is ruby red with a watery rim.
On the nose, red berries, cherries and cassis. Slight plums too. Bouquet is very fragrant and complex.
On the palate, the mouthfeel is lighter than I expected but the alcohol is there. Not super tannic but medium plus acidity. Could have been aged for longer (281 views)
Tasted by forceberry on 9/10/2019 & rated 88 points: A "Northern Rhône type of red". A blend of Syrah (85%) and Grenache (15%). Aged for 14 months in 300-liter oak barrels (1st and 2nd use). 14% alcohol, 2 g/l residual sugar and pH 3,55.

Deep, quite youthful and moderately opaque blackish-red color. Ripe, brooding and somewhat sweet-toned nose with aromas of blackberry jam, some toasty oak spice, a little bit of roasted meat and a hint of cherry marmalade. The wine is ripe, full-bodied and quite intense on the palate with slightly sweet-toned flavors of blackberry jam, some plummy fruits, a little bit of alcohol warmth, light meaty umami tones and a hint of peppery spice. The overall feel is round and silky, yet quite firm with some tactile sense of density. The wine is moderately high in acidity with ripe, slowly piling-up medium tannins. The finish is slightly warm, moderately grippy and quite savory with long flavors of meaty umami, ripe blackberries, some extracted woody bitterness, a little bit of sweet dark plums, light toasty oak notes and a hint of peppery spice.

I normally enjoy Northern Rhône reds much more than Southern ones, but this Rascallion "Northern Rhône style red" felt sweeter, softer and less impressive than Pandiculation, the "Southern Rhône style red" of Rascallion Wines. This wine feels like it has more body, more ripeness, more oak and overall slightly sweeter taste - none of which sound really like a direction a "Northern Rhône style" wine should go into. This is a nice, firm and ripe red all right, but feels like lacking elegance and definition - and exactly those things are the ones I look for in a Northern Rhône red. (504 views)
Tasted by Hampe on 2/21/2019 & rated 90 points: Medelintensivt rubrinöd. Doft av blåbär, choklad och lakrits. Viss strävhet. Smak av blåbär, kryddighet och relativt lång och rökig eftersmak. Medelfylligt (447 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
