Tasted by mpsocal on 2/25/2024 & rated 93 points: Excellent wine as always, dark, nice fruit, layers of flavor. (324 views)
Tasted by OWC on 1/9/2024 & rated 93 points: Enormous, typical pedal to the metal Lewis extravaganza. Burly fruit wraps itself around the palate, all but taking it hostage. Yet why resist? If you like Lewis juice, you’ll love this. Could hold, but why not drink now? (433 views)
Tasted by Flemboy on 5/28/2023 & rated 94 points: Beautiful dark color, with a nose of dark berry and herbs. Fruit forward, with room for age. (831 views)
Tasted by Chris Keller on 5/26/2023 & rated 94 points: Opulent curvy and hedonistic this wine is full of dark fruits. Notes present are huckleberry, blackberry, dark luxardo cherry , vanilla, flourless chocolate cake. Allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg and minerals. A huge full wine in a decadent style. Love this wine. (744 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 1/25/2023 & rated 94 points: Such packed and stacked wine, but in proportion for its style. Has everything needed to be a complete wine, there's just a lot of everything. Such a fun ride! Drink for pure enjoyment, good now and good for many years. (1165 views)
Tasted by Perfectly Paired on 1/13/2023 & rated 93 points: Deep dark opaque purple color. Aromas of earthy dark fruit with smoky cocoa and spice notes. Silky palate full of black berries with savory layers of herbs, pepper and vanilla. Full-bodied with supple tannins and great finish. (901 views)
Tasted by KJD45$ on 12/25/2022 & rated 93 points: Fruit forward , hedonistic, lush new world blend..
Definite oak adds texture to the fruit….
Sort of wine that immediately impresses you but I think it’s also tiring after a while…
Crowd pleaser …. Great to enjoy occasionally but it’s too jammy and extracted for me to want very often … (672 views)
Tasted by Ehamm13 on 12/25/2022: Great bottle - buy again (891 views)
Tasted by BobMilton on 9/26/2022 & rated 93 points: Interesting blend, rich, good dark fruit, smooth. (979 views)
Tasted by Francophile1 on 8/16/2022 & rated 91 points: Inly, black as pitch, exotic goodness. This is a sexy and flamboyant expression of Alec’s blend. Fruit forward, jammy and has a long finish. (945 views)
Tasted by kvswine on 6/23/2022 & rated 91 points: a bit tart on intitial opening, but mellows with time. Lots of leather and earth , I would decant for an hour prior, just to let it express itself. (856 views)
Tasted by Condrieu82 on 2/25/2022 & rated 90 points: Very pronounced nose with lots of plums and some forest floor aromas. Plot is very dark, dark ruby with long legs. Good acidity, balanced structure with good tannins, deep oak notes with some vanilla, cassis and dark cherries, with some bitter moka notes and a hint of vanilla on the medium-long ending. Fruit forward for sure in a typical California way, but balanced and enjoyable. A good and bold wine. (1241 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 2/18/2022 & rated 93 points: One hour decant. Very deep dark ruby magenta color. Mocha, pencil lead, blackberry, black cherry, plum, and coconut-infused crème brûlée on the rich, extracted nose. Smooth, dry palate, with good, lingering acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This is excellent for the price point. Very easy drinker, albeit a bit over the top. (1743 views)
Tasted by mreinitz on 2/6/2022 & rated 92 points: Lewis wines are usually too over the top for my taste but I liked this a lot. Almost seemed like a cross between a Napa Syrah and an Aussie Shiraz, with tasty blackberry and blueberry flavors. (1050 views)
Tasted by mpsocal on 1/21/2022 & rated 93 points: dark wine with just the right amount of fruit. Needed a little air time to open up. (965 views)
Tasted by OWC on 1/8/2022 & rated 94 points: This is rich, oaky, winey, sublime Napa juice. A prime example of what Lewis excels at. And absolutely delicious. Smoky raspberry, spice and plum with a touch of cranberry fizz. This is a full on experience, hedonistic but not over the top. Dances across the palate with impressive stuffing. Drink now. (927 views)
Tasted by Thebigbaby on 11/20/2021 & rated 91 points: Big, juicy, thick and flavorful. Well balanced, with some smoke and balances between savory and sweet. Love, love. the long finish! Yum! (1077 views)
Tasted by gquigs on 11/6/2021 & rated 92 points: Lots of blue and black fruit, some spice. Very smooth with a long finish. (1014 views)
Tasted by clubs on 10/9/2021 & rated 91 points: Bit too fruity (913 views)
Tasted by BobMilton on 9/10/2021 & rated 95 points: Drinking very well right now - good dark fruit, smooth, long lasting finish. (1184 views)
Tasted by ebert on 8/22/2021 & rated 95 points: Very well balanced with great, bright fruit and a smooth finish. (1264 views)
Tasted by mpsocal on 8/6/2021 & rated 94 points: Outstanding. Once you start drinking it you don’t want it to end. This might be the best vintage I’ve had of this wine. (1035 views)
Tasted by Ecoenophile on 5/13/2021 & rated 93 points: Ink.... velvety rich purple fruit. Syrah does the heavy lifting here. Lilac and a little menthol. Lots of chocolate on the mid-palate. Long finish. A bit over the top... but I really enjoyed it. (1330 views)
Tasted by Ticker tape guy on 3/28/2021 & rated 90 points: nice dark as ink,,full mouth..lots of dark cherry licorice..finish went on and on..actually better the second day as the tannins tamed..enjoyed with grilled bratwurst (1410 views)
Tasted by EvanRose on 3/20/2021 & rated 90 points: Aromatic with anise, tarragon and black fruit, very rich and full bodied with chocolate, leather, red cherry and a nice grip on the finish (1287 views)

Syrah Blend

The 2018 is 40% Merlot and 60% Syrah.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
