Tasted by goonar182 on 9/10/2023 & rated 91 points: Not enjoyable for a Beckstoffer- seems a bit acidic. Pleasant on the nose, but subdued fruit. Good purple color. I guess I expected better. I have a feeling that it may not get any better. We will see!! (654 views)
Tasted by sonodoc on 4/23/2023 & rated 96 points: Dark and rich. Red, blue and black fruits. Soft tannins, and so I would never have guessed it had 10% Petite Sirah with it being fairly young. Smooth, well balanced, with a long finish. (917 views)
Tasted by eschuldt on 3/15/2023 & rated 94 points: Still a forward fruit profile, some structure to balance it out but over time not seeing the complexity I’d hope might develop. (888 views)
Tasted by Artbreadman on 3/7/2022 & rated 94 points: This has blossomed into a lovely, not too heavy but still rich and enjoyable wine. It reminded me of several different vintages of Dominus. (1770 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 2/25/2022 & rated 96 points: See prior notes - evolving beautifully and a real treat (1177 views)
Tasted by EM_MB on 12/30/2021 & rated 93 points: Flash decant and drank over 2 days. Day 1 - nothing special. Day 2 - super dark color, tons of blue fruit, tannins slowly releasing grip. Unique taste given the petite Syrah and very enjoyable My mistake in thinking 17 vintage early drinker across the board. Hold. (1189 views)
Tasted by eschuldt on 8/22/2021 & rated 95 points: One glass after an hour slow ox, nice fruit profile and integrated tannins. Still quite fruit forward. (1423 views)
Tasted by jschnabel on 2/14/2021 & rated 93 points: I popped this a bit early, I admit, but the wine, though young, shows tremendous expression. The nose brings strong essence of blueberry, honey suckle and herbal bouquet. The palate is greeted with creamy blue fruit with a licorice finish. The wines tannins are already well groomed. This vineyard is a beauty and will produce more great wines in the future. (1729 views)
Tasted by mfkidd on 11/14/2020 & rated 92 points: Good, but too grapey. (1425 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 10/31/2020 & rated 95 points: Outstanding. One hour decant (1377 views)
Tasted by tbabes on 4/20/2020 & rated 96 points: Popped, poured and consumed over 2 hours, with dinner. Deep purple core with no signs of age. Extroverted bouquet, offering up stunningly pure notes of blueberry, black cherry, roasted fennel, and ripe plums; hints of lavender and spice box. Medium bodied, with unreal depth and balance; silky texture, good concentration, and a very long finish. For my tastes, I preferred the ‘17 over the ‘16 Kata; the freshness, lift and joie de vivre are impressive. A great wine! (1520 views)
Tasted by eschuldt on 1/12/2020 & rated 95 points: Hour decant, probably could have used more time. Delish. (1222 views)
Tasted by seijaro on 1/12/2020 & rated 94 points: A real beauty, big and powerful. Still young, will get even better and smooth out some. We couldn't get to 98, but it could be there in a few years. (1702 views)
Tasted by vinhonotte on 8/8/2019 & rated 98 points: Realm Cellars - Practical Dreamer Tour (Mastro’s Steakhouse - Beverly Hills): A huge nose of cassis, cherry, bergamot, orange blossoms. Wow this is super intense, cherries and cassis, roses, orange peel, and some paprika. Big tannic structure and mouthwatering acidity, and the orange peel continues on and on to a very long finish. Oh my god mindblowing! (2439 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
