Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.2 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by ProfessorM on 4/27/2024 & rated 81 points: Developing a little yellow colour, spice on the nose and a little lime. Fresh and zingy although the acid is perhaps a little low. Palette quite full with good length. (61 views)
Tasted by Not647f on 11/3/2023: We had a curry on Friday night that was needed a white wine (if we were having wine--we probably could have skipped it, tbh), so I opened this. It's a bit weightier, and the heft makes it work pretty well with spicy foods or things with stronger flavors that need white wine. These are just a really great example if you like Marsanne, by a maker that puts the effort into these very reasonable bottles. (302 views)
Tasted by Neecies on 8/16/2023: Has acquired more weight since we last tasted this in 3/22. Good tone and structure. Don't know how to predict the lifespan of a youngun' version of this famously ageable wine, but no one will be disappointed holding these for five more years, if not longer. (369 views)
Tasted by Not647f on 3/5/2023: Drank this over a longer period than probably advisable, but it held up fine in the refrigerator under VacuVin. This is one of the best values in wine if you like richer whites--Marsanne is not the lightest juice, and I've never had one that would make sense made that way. So it can be a nice winter white, with lemon pith, a bit of green apple, and a little white rose (but not a lot, that would be unappealing to me, fwiw). Tahbilk also makes a "reserve" Marsanne, which I recently bought but have not tried. Be interesting to see how much it differs, but this hits the spot at a very nice price (under $15). (579 views)
Tasted by DrinkerTrev on 9/8/2022 & rated 91 points: One of the best cheap wines I’ve had. Light colour. Plenty of floral overload made this an ideal wine to have with a spicy beef curry I’d made for dinner tonight. This wine will age for 10 years. (755 views)
Tasted by Neecies on 3/19/2022: Very pale with mostly pear fruit accented with subtle notes of green melon and grapefruit rind. Blind, I'd have guessed pinot grigio, not marsanne. Fairly priced at $15 locally. (1121 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 1/22/2022: {screwcap, 13%} Grapefruit and melon. Subtle nose. Palate is similar, a bit greasy in texture but with a little acid cutting through on the finish. Light/medium weight, dry, no oak. Has the typical grape-skin tannin I always seem to find in this cuvee. Fairly short finish, but a quite even palate, so some aging is likely to be beneficial. (1063 views)
Tasted by Avid Wino on 7/31/2021 & rated 91 points: Balance and the beginnings of the body that you know will develop with time. Florals, fruit salad, touch of almond meal. Ample length. Best young Tahbilk Marsanne in memory for me. Wonder if I’ve scored others higher. If so, so be it. Neither memory or scoring are precision tools. (1371 views)
Tasted by Screwcaps on 7/25/2021 & rated 91 points: This is very good. Don’t drink this one too cold. Love the white florals (acacia?) meets melon and citrus. Savoury, mealy, finish is lovely. Textural Almond meal and white peach kernel finish. A steal at $11 Dan Murphy’s. Leave final bottle for 5 years, will buy more if on deal again. Fantastic food wine. (1027 views)
Tasted by Drinking Trees on 3/3/2021: Bright, firm acidity. Minerality. Flavours of lime, grapefruit, and green apple. (812 views)
