Community Tasting Notes (average 85.1 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 21 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Double D's Cellar on 1/18/2012 & rated 87 points: Still an inexpensive fav (2499 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 6/6/2010 & rated 87 points: A nose of black cherry and spice, dark ruby in color. A easy going red, black cherry, plum with smoky oak, a good mid-week wine with offers good value. Have tried a few times over the last year with similar results, interesting label. (2873 views)
Tasted by gajalaa on 6/4/2010 & rated 88 points: Nice rich soft feel in the mouth with heavy tannins. Opened and drank, it had a little spice. I liked it. This would make for good everyday drinking. It might be better if you decant and wait an hour or two (2988 views)
Tasted by ijayb on 5/23/2010 & rated 86 points: Big ripe wine, low on acidity but heavy tannins. Popped and poured and was heavy. Next day, softened up and was better. Good for everyday drinking. Better with food, suggest grilled red meat with this. (3174 views)
Tasted by jmelstr1 on 4/20/2010 & rated 87 points: Fully body, chewy, mildly spicy, mildly dry finish, nose: caramel (3154 views)
Tasted by Trosefl on 4/16/2010 & rated 86 points: Spicy. Hot finish. Good with pasta (1311 views)
Tasted by TLHWG on 3/11/2010 & rated 88 points: At its best after open for 1 hour. A very good everyday red for $11. (2192 views)
Tasted by sandyloveswinetoo on 2/24/2010 & rated 83 points: Quite unmemorable, mostly green vegetal aromas, some fruit but not distinguishable as to any particular fruit. Would not purchase again. (1481 views)
Tasted by EricFromMD on 10/10/2009 & rated 85 points: Lots of cherry fruit flavors. Tons of oak and smoke: too much for my taste. Simple but perfectly drinkable. (1831 views)
Tasted by kahuna75 on 9/7/2009 & rated 85 points: A red blend from Lodi 60% Cab, 30% merlot, 10% Syrah- A one dimensional fruit driven wine that is decent enough- If you are drinking yellow tails and barefoots this is a major step up while keeping that fruit driven profile-If you want that candy taste Pop and pour If you want a little more complexity and a few darker flavors to come out leave this wine in the decanter for 60 minutes-

I see another tasting note from Feburary on this wine- wonder if that was at winery as I dont think this was on stores shelves that long ago (1691 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 6/2/2009 & rated 69 points: Avoid. This is Lodi jug wine under a "seductive" label. (1768 views)
Tasted by eliotfagley on 3/11/2009 & rated 81 points: Pretty average stuff. Drank over two days. Day 1 was pleasant and fruity, very extracted. Tastes a little like a science experiment. Day 2 was actually a little difficult. Dumped the last glass. (1979 views)
Tasted by amateurwino on 2/19/2009 & rated 78 points: Drinkable, but just barely. Odd mix of some ripe elements and other very green, vegetal flavors. Will probably cook with this. (1899 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
