Simple but a quality wine. Refreshing and a great pair to spicy Thai food. (3727 views) | | Tasted by jeremy_ross on 3/19/2012 & rated 84 points: Off-dry, fairly fruity, mainly tropical fruit, but a somewhat awkward mid/finish. Ok for a cheap patio pounder. (4463 views) | | Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 8/18/2011 & rated 86 points: Hey, I bought this to accompany Chinese take out. Put it in the freezer to chill, and it worked. Almost never buy Riesling not made in Germany, but this was pretty good. Golden color. Pineapple and flowers on the nose. Lots of fresh peaches on the palate with pineapple and honey. Yes there is plenty of residual sugar. There is 12.5% alcohol, which would be high in Germany, but about right for California. Not the slightest bit heavy or oily. The acid is not that Granny Smith apple, but more civilized. There may be a touch of spritz on the top of the mouth. The finish is jasmine, ginger, and a very nice ripe pineapple. I'm trying to imagine some flinty minerality, and there might be some. Producer websiteRiesling Varietal character (Appellation America) | A short history of Riesling (Uncork) | Riesling (wikipedia)USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
