| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.9 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 10 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Paul S on 9/1/2014 & rated 91 points: Dim Sum Club at Summer Palace (Summer Palace, Regent Hotel): I was a bit hesitant about bringing this bottle given its age, but it was universally well received over lunch. Almost everyone guessed Champagne, and we all agreed that it actually had the chops to go on in the bottle for a bit yet. It had a nose of ripe apples and a whiff of quinine along with a touch of minerality – quite an attractive bouquet. The palate was a dead-ringer for a Champagne of equivalent age, with sweet apples at the fore chased by lemon zest and bittersweet mineral notes, all this held in fresh balance and with a fine mousse. With time, a little touch of spice peeked out at the finish. The age of the wine showed in the nice mellow roundness it had in the mouth, but it still had a bit of youthful zestiness that bodes well for the immediate future. Neither the most complex nor the deepest wine, but this was very pleasant. (3155 views) | | Tasted by shank on 11/17/2011 & rated 89 points: Nutty and creamy with full body. Dont' drink enough bubbly to give an accurate rating. (3362 views) | | Tasted by W.Simons on 11/10/2010: Very tasty. Nutty and rich on the palate. Full, lingering finish. Toffee, cocoa, a touch of burnt sugar. Delicious now. No upside to waiting on these. There's still bright effervescence, though it's very creamy and plush in texture but finishing a little short. (3702 views) | | Tasted by MHildbold on 5/15/2009 & rated 92 points: Rich, creamy, nutty, biscuity. Aromas of apple pie, brioche, cooked pear. Very fine bubble texture and luxurious mouthfeel. Schramsberg has such great aging potential, a stellar effort. (3855 views) | | Tasted by Nanda on 12/30/2006 flawed bottle: Eve of the Eve Vinci Dinner (Chicago, IL): Corked! (3004 views) | | Tasted by trankin on 2/8/2006: Southern Westchester Piedmont Offline Feb 8 (Meritage in Scarsdale): Pale yellow in color. Acidic and nutty. Hazelnuts I think. A touch of lemon? Very nice. (2522 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson North CoastThe North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties.
