The texture is pure silk with superb balance and just enough acidity to keep it fresh and full of verve. It's hard to put the glass down as i just want to quaff this nectar. Love the way basic Trimbach ages. i think this has aged better than the 1999. (2403 views) | | Tasted by bon vivant on 2/16/2014: Had this with some Thai food and it was surprisingly dry upon opening. The aromas were a lot more subdued but the flavors were good with lots of yellow tropical notes and good balance. Fresh and easy going this held up well considering it's basic designation. Enjoyable (2431 views) | | Tasted by MikeHikeEat on 11/14/2012 & rated 80 points: Surprisingly good for 12 years old. (2824 views) | | Tasted by kenv on 7/22/2010 & rated 92 points: WCC Blind Whites (Not Chardonnay) (Creo’ Restaurant, Albany, NY): Gorgeous tropical fruit nose. Surprisingly dry in the mouth given how sweet it is in the nose. I think it's Alsatian Pinot Gris. Mike T thinks it's Gewurz. He's right, but it doesn't have any of the lychee/rosewater flavors I'd expect. (4060 views) | | Tasted by spass on 11/25/2006 & rated 91 points: light, rich fruit, muscat like nose, hint of sweetness, wonderful. why didn't I buy more? wonderful and maturing. at least one to two years left in this vintage. (3935 views) | | Tasted by jpan on 3/25/2005: Very light straw color, leggy Youthful, fruity, fragrant nose, pleasant but lacking strong gewurz characteristics Spicy, mouth filling, tongue coating with citrusy tartness Rich, long, aromatic aftertaste (2404 views) | | Tasted by andrewstevenson.com on 8/12/2003 & rated 84 points: Liverpool Offline (Everyman Theatre, Liverpool): Tasted blind. Very light, fragrant gewurztraminer rose petal nose, but actually a bit muscatty. I can't detect any Riesling there, so it's probably not an Edelzwicker, though it has me wondering. Very attractive, light flavours and textures, not overly spicy. Very, very fresh ripe tropical fruit on palate, but tending towards flabbiness. Touch of pepper on finish. Reasonable character, just a bit unsatisfying. Good. Turns out to be Trimbach's basic gewurz 2000. (2921 views) |
