Community Tasting Notes (average 90 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by glou.sf on 5/10/2021 & rated 93 points: Tasted blind. The nose had tropical fruit, citrus, orange, a honeyed note, and lemon zest notes. Lots of acidity with a good amount of pure fruit, candied lemon, and pineapple on the palate. Well balanced and complex. Long finish. I quite liked this, probably the best CA Sauvignon Blanc I've had. After a few hours in the glass, the acidity was almost too much, so this note is based on my impression of the ~30 min of tasting.  Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 5/10/2015 & rated 91 points: Italians, Bordeaux and a few more with friends (An upscale Italian Restaurant in Cleveland): A very interesting take on Sauvignon Blanc. Light golden in color. The nose has melons, peaches, and minerals. Medium bodied. On the palate, this has a nice complexity. It also has a surprisingly round texture. I assume this sees oak, but nothing showing except this creaminess which is very nice. Good acidity that worked well with food. Also some peach and melon notes on the palate. Lovely wine that, while I am sure has lost fruit, has morphed into something different and seems to have time left. (1942 views)
Tasted by BadOyster on 3/2/2014 & rated 91 points: A small amount of oak accents this plush SB that oozes class and length. The elegance in this SB definitely marks it as a wine to be savored over a while as it opens up. (1807 views)
Tasted by blanquito on 2/25/2014 & rated 85 points: Expressive nose of fennel, greenery, petrol. Light bodied, refreshing. Decent zest. Nothing special, but pleasant. 85-86 (1780 views)

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
