Tasted by Big Dog on 2/20/2020 & rated 92 points: Nice bottle of wine from garagiste. Wish I had a couple of more. Nice dusty red fruits that really opened after a couple of hours. (1651 views)
Tasted by markcic on 9/7/2019 & rated 92 points: Much better than the bottle I had two years ago. We slow ox'd for 3 hours prior to dinner which consisted of ribs and sausage on the grill with grilled corn and a caesar salad. The nose was all dark fruit the palate was dark berries, pipe tobacco, smoke and licorice. The finish was moderate to long and very lush. Totally enjoyable and such a great QPR (1752 views)
Tasted by benny on 8/5/2019 & rated 94 points: This is really an outstanding wine. One of the great buys from Jon R. (1791 views)
Tasted by jayw on 7/28/2019: Smoke and tar with ripe fruit. Very structured and intense. Drinking well now, but has another 3-5 years of life before it starts to decline. Excellent QPR from Garagiste at $24. (1349 views)
Tasted by geexploitation on 2/1/2019: Spice, smoke, and earth on the nose. Rich fruits and even some tannic group (still, at this stage). Lengthy finish. What a nice surprise of a bottle! (914 views)
Tasted by thebonnydooner on 7/13/2018 & rated 93 points: Not had this wine before, nor am I familiar with it, so there was no real expectations. However, safe to say, I was impressed. Intense and ripe. Showing only a little bricking - does not show like a 2005 wine. Palate is ripe and intense without being overblown, nice balance with soft tannins. Mainly dark plum, some currant fruit, dry, good acidity, still slightly tannic finish. Maybe slightly dusty, complex finish. Overall impression with and without food, excellent wine. (1459 views)
Tasted by Rollerball on 11/24/2017 & rated 93 points: A physiologically ripe pure Carignan that's tongue-staining and masculine with flowers, creosote, brownie crust, smokey herbs, and just enough zing. (1672 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 10/26/2017 & rated 93 points: Deep flavor, has an almost Amarone tone - a volcanic dryness. A real over-achiever. (1807 views)
Tasted by Rollerball on 8/4/2017 & rated 91 points: Dark and smokey; signifcant structure remains. (2103 views)
Tasted by markcic on 7/26/2017 & rated 90 points: Similar to my notes of this past April, dark fruit on the nose, the palate is dark berries, rhubarb and licorice. Hints of thyme on the smooth finish. A really nice wine. Great QPR (2060 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 7/24/2017 & rated 92 points: Very enjoyable wine. Reminds me of some of the higher end Shiraz wines from the 90s in terms of the bold power. The nose is of dust and some soy sauce. There is still some heat on the pallet with a lot of acid. I get some burnt rhubarb notes. Very good with homemade pasta and gravy. (1552 views)
Tasted by markcic on 4/22/2017 & rated 90 points: Well made wine not showing its age. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate is dark berries, a touch licorice and a hint of thyme. Nice smooth finish. (1824 views)
Tasted by thesternowl on 12/28/2016 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. No formal notes. A bit on the one dimensional side but definitely a tasty wine that would easily please a crowd. Surprising life in this. Would buy again if I could find more. Drink now. (2369 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 10/30/2016 & rated 93 points: Lovely as always. Tasted alongside a beautiful Terlan Lagrein Riserva fro '12. The Shardana had a more tannic profile, a bit more piercing but still so well balanced. Lovely at the price. There is a volcanic soil tone that is very welcome. (2366 views)
Tasted by Quarked on 8/24/2016: Cork was 90% soaked through, and wine was over the hill. No review. (2643 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 8/4/2016 & rated 93 points: Lovely, open, rich with a facinating smoakey volcanic tone. Likely at its peak, drink now. (2876 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 7/21/2016 & rated 94 points: One of the best, most interesting wines I've come across at this pricepoint. There's something uncanny about this wine, especially at this lovely mature stage of its development. There's a significant smoke and tobacco note but it's so perfectly integrated with the fruit so there's nothing awry. Very distinctive and delicious. This is a welcome change from other wines that while nice I get a bit bored with. This is anything but boring. (2682 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 2/28/2016 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured. Black cherry, black pepper, anise. Still fresh and powerful, there is nothing reticent here, while it is still overall nicely balanced. Great pizza wine tonight, sensational value wine. (3092 views)
Tasted by juffer on 11/24/2015 & rated 92 points: Wow, very ripe, but also loads of structure to support it. Nose of ripe blackberry and french oak. Rich mid palate. Good grip on the finish. Reminds a bit of some of the better Chilean cabs. Not my favorite wine style, but done well for the price range, and to accompany rich stews, this is what is needed. Did best out of a big Riedel Bordeaux glass (smaller glasses created to much focus on the alcohol and ripeness). Held up well to very rich braised beef shank.

P.S. Wow again as I look through the community notes, which are all over the place. It looks like so many bottles were flawed or cooked. I find ripeness, but nothing stewed or candied in my sample, and the ripeness is supported by some moderate acidity and a heavy doss of wood tannins. I also have the impression this bottle could have been held another 3 years easily. (2944 views)
Tasted by BrunelloBob on 8/30/2015 & rated 89 points: Big, thick, almost overwhelming. Dark, port like flavors with a touch of red fruit. I might have called this blind as Portugeese. Fun bottle. (2779 views)
Tasted by davidspieker on 6/3/2015 & rated 89 points: Brickish color. Red fruit and spice aromas with consistent flavors. Medium body with good balance and nice finish. (2939 views)
Tasted by ravbik on 5/6/2015 & rated 88 points: Last bottle. Some seepage with soaked cork. First day bitter and tannic but fruits came out and tannins dissipated on day 2. Would buy again (3083 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 3/29/2015 & rated 93 points: Very sweet, red-brick and bright red fruit tones. Light to medium-bodied, some sulphur and light spice. This is stunningly good for the price; drinking great now. Drink now. (2456 views)

Garagiste (10/21/2010)
(SHARDANA Cantina Santadi) Shardana Dear Friends, We’ve had a large number of inquiries for this wine but I was unable to secure a well-priced parcel until this morning. From the southern tip of Sardinia, surrounded by wild and protected land (near Porto Pino), the Shardana is an example that could only be produced from an environment that has grown without great influence from the Continent. Scattered pre-phylloxera Carignan vines co-exist with those merely 100 years of age (!) and the bottling of 2005 Shardana (the name given to the Sardinians by the Phoenicians) is a large-scaled and exotic success - not to mention, it is produced near one of the most stunning and unspoiled beaches in all of Europe. For those of you looking for something a bit more than the low-impact, high acid staple we usually force upon you, this all-too intriguing example has the power (and poise) of something unique. The addition of a small amount of Syrah in the blend works wonders with the Carignan and the result is an aromatic and palate-staining cacophony that will make your lips smack. If you can imagine a char-grilled Fiorentina or slow-braised winter stew come December, instead of the requisite Cabernet or Chateauneuf du Pape, try the Shardana instead - it will spin a certain magic as an accompaniment (be sure to decant for one hour): For the tariff, this wine is a bargain compared to other high-end examples. It presents a peek at a special vein of old-vine Carignan grown away from mainland of Europe. Somehow, they’ve managed to harness that essence and transport it to our shores precisely for your enjoyment...and your exploration... ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price: 2005 Cantina Santadi “Shardana” - (compare at up to $35+) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 24/person until we run out To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to arrive in a few weeks (please check OARS for local pick up after Nov 10th). (Santadi Shardana) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-power; like a chocolate brick being stuffed up your nose; smells great; there's huge intensity; very deep, rich wine; smells like a $70-$80 wine; PALATE-this is a very big and bombastic wine; HUGE fruit; explosive; very viscous; like an imaginary blend of the Rhone (CdP) and Italy; very intense structure; black pepper; leather; great black currant; like globs of jelly; this is a SPECTACULAR bottle of Carignon; great structure; I love the pepper, the intensity, the viscosity, the structure; love this wine; like a $70-$80 wine for $24 bones; AG-94; GV-93  93 points
