Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.4 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 20 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Cote d'Or on 9/9/2020: Similar to last bottle but also with a brett-like component (601 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 4/3/2019: PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-med red mild bricking
-muted berry and faint notes of maturity
-med acidity gives tangy brightness, med/med- weight, earthy red berry pine palate is more expressive than the nose, med- tannins
-quite pleasant, notably evolved since prior bottle 3 years ago, now in full maturity (767 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 7/11/2016: PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-nearly semi-translucent dark red faint purple, slight clearing at edge
-expressive slightly candied gin/pine black cherry licorice
-just barely med acidity most prominent near finish, med/med- weight but reasonable depth with earthy savory black cherry licorice, med tannins
-interesting pleasant, reminiscent of a rustic lighter weight nebbiolo-based wine blended with frappato, evolved since last bottle 2 years ago, may still have some upside as tannins further resolve (1297 views)
Tasted by VDLT Wine on 7/18/2015: So distinctly Tyrolean. I could not place the flavors but most prominent was what I can only describe as cool (temp not hip) purple fruit. Quite seductive. (1679 views)
Tasted by Ben H. on 11/19/2014: Looking at other people's notes, I wonder if this wine shouldn't be decanted, at the moment, to show best. I've had it once in a restaurant, without decanting, and can see how it could be described as simple. However, this bottle decanted at home was complex and unusual, the wine evolving in the glass. (1899 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 6/11/2014: PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
-med red with slight clearing at edge
-aromatic bubble gum and spice
-initially med- acidity gives soft mouthfeel despite its light weight, moderately sappy mid-palate has exuberant fruity pink bubble gum component along with a gentle soft spiciness and strangely enough a bit of grapefruit bitterness, becomes more focused after 3 hrs
-interesting, pleasant, reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of a Beaujolais and frappato (2047 views)
Tasted by ktrh on 12/11/2013 & rated 84 points: Very good Schiava, however with surprising levels of bitterness that I find hard to drink. (2141 views)
Tasted by pjhr on 10/20/2013 & rated 92 points: Wonderful floral nose with refreshing red fruit on the palate and
tasty spice on the moderate finish. (1340 views)
Tasted by VDLT Wine on 10/20/2013: LI Blind, Chadwicks: (alongside '11 Gonon VdP with mushroom duxelles pâté) finished next day. Once again, strawberry colored to match its principal flavor. Demure on its own, it perked up nicely with the pâté. Next day, just a lovely expression of Schiava. (1690 views)
Tasted by MLipton on 10/19/2013: Opened when our search for Dolcetto in the cellar came up blank. A suitable substitute, though, as it was light-bodied, drinkable with very smooth tannins and a cherry-strawberry fruit profile. Simple but tasty. (1208 views)
Tasted by marc d on 3/18/2013: Delightful "little" wine. Translucent dark ruby color, nose is a mix of red fruit leaning towards strawberry, some black pepper. Light bodied, fresh, little tannin. Ready to drink now, perfect table wine. Not complex, but good drinking. Held up pretty well overnight. (1329 views)
Tasted by marc d on 1/29/2013: Interesting wine, fragrant floral and red fruited nose, the mouth is light bodied, almost lean with good acidity. Finishes with a savory bitter note. Nice for current drinking. (1287 views)
Tasted by David_T on 12/16/2012 & rated 90 points: I can see the comparison to Beaujolais. This is definitely a lighter style but structured. Aromas of red cherry along with cranberry, a hint of red raspberry and herbs. The palate is light-bodied but has pleasant sour red cherry/cranberry notes along with herbs and minerals. A light touch of tannins but noticeable acidity and a fairly long finish make me wonder how long this might age. Reading up on the urban life approaching the vineyard this wine is made from makes me appreciate its purity. (1096 views)
Tasted by Kurtjo on 11/25/2012 & rated 89 points: Veldig lys. Overaskende god, røde bær, litt tørket kjøtt. Frisk og syrlig. God til indrefilet av svin med sjampijong fløtesaus. (1140 views)
Tasted by Serge Birbrair on 11/22/2012: mozhno propustit' (1282 views)
Tasted by jaypeeq on 10/21/2012 & rated 89 points: Cranberry, mint, (1087 views)
Tasted by Biskuit on 8/28/2012 & rated 88 points: Interesting stuff, a bit light, a bit acidic, definitely tart cherry with dirt in a pinot-ish direction, but more Gamay-like in overall character. (1203 views)
Tasted by jibby on 6/13/2012 & rated 91 points: Luxurious dark ruby red. Looks watery. Some smoked meats. Light body. Juicy red berried (strawberry, raspberry). Plums. Nice balanced acidity. Vibrant summer red. (1223 views)
Tasted by shleepy on 6/13/2012 & rated 92 points: Smells of wilted flowers/foliage, fruit/tomato juice, and some light earthiness. Body is on the light side; paired with the acidity / sourness, it very refreshing for a red wine. Taste has some jamon-like meatiness and lots of sour fruit. (1563 views)
