(946 views) | | Tasted by garrigue65 on 2/28/2020 & rated 88 points: Dark fruit on nose. Nice long finish. Notes of cherry and casis with cedar on the back. This wine is best drunk quickly as it becomes imbalanced in the glass after around a half an hour. (971 views) | | Tasted by smcisaac on 9/22/2018 & rated 92 points: Consistent with my previous note. (1557 views) | | Tasted by smcisaac on 9/9/2018 & rated 92 points: Classic California cab. Still drinking well after 10 years, no signs of tiring yet. (1506 views) | | Tasted by EdKz@comcast.net on 8/4/2017 & rated 91 points: More of the same; drink now or wait another year (1798 views) | | Tasted by EdKz@comcast.net on 6/30/2017 & rated 90 points: dark, medium body, aromas of cassis, new world licorice and dark fruit, modest finish (1830 views) | | Tasted by jgh123 on 8/8/2016 & rated 90 points: Rich, fruit forward with medium length but not much complexity. 14.5% EtOH. Very nice for the price. Drink now and for another 5 years. (2642 views) | | Tasted by daveyleis1 on 4/8/2016 & rated 90 points: PNP plumb to prune-ish, pepper, dry finish. Not a big wine. Easy peasy to drink and better than expected. Has gotten better since purchase a few years ago. (2578 views) | | Tasted by garrigue65 on 2/12/2016 & rated 88 points: Kind of thin with blackberry and licorice notes. Never really developed over 45 minutes. Perhaps an atypical bottle. (2548 views) | | Tasted by garrigue65 on 8/31/2015 & rated 92 points: wow this is really drinking well now. Great QPR. Opens with raspberry fruit and tons of chocolate. Smooth tannins with some licorice at the end. Very enjoyable now. (2377 views) | | Tasted by Ken G on 5/29/2015 & rated 91 points: I very good bottle of wine. Smooth, Dark color, fruitful, non acidic, medium tannins, nice aroma. Flavorful black berry and licorice. I should have bought more. (2382 views) | | Tasted by garrigue65 on 3/27/2015 & rated 90 points: This is a nice cali cab. Notes of black currant with licorice and green pepper. The finish smooths out after half an hour of decanting. (1939 views) | | Tasted by ddgd on 5/28/2014 & rated 88 points: Bottle opened for an hour, decantered for an hour and still took until the second glass to open up. Medium to full bodied, deep garnet color and a smooth but persistent long finish. (3005 views) | | Tasted by ChipGreen on 3/24/2014 & rated 89 points: Deep ruby color in the glass with fast-running medium-spaced legs. Nose of cherry, plum, cedar and cinnamon. Somewhat thin yet manages a lush mouthfeel with medium-bodied richness. Palate follows nose with cherry, plum, cassis, leather, oak and cinnamon. Velvety tannins on the medium finish. Plenty of life left in this and may still be improving. Will save my last bottle for at least another year. (3284 views) | | Tasted by garrigue65 on 2/26/2014 & rated 90 points: paired perfectly with a grilled rib eye steak. (2961 views) | | Tasted by mactireliath on 11/21/2013: needed about two hours of breathing and then it opened up very velvety and full. (3372 views) | | Tasted by dsimmons on 8/28/2013 & rated 90 points: This was drinking well. nice balance and good fruit. (3697 views) | | Tasted by Drew Pauk, CWE on 4/1/2013 & rated 89 points: Didn't pay for this one but it wouldn't be worth $30. Not bad but better options for this price point. (3326 views) | | Tasted by Janstan on 2/19/2013 & rated 90 points: Really enjoyed. Well balanced, pleasant tannins, good dark fruit and cherry. Had with pot roast (3147 views) | | Tasted by Wamrod on 1/23/2013 & rated 89 points: Dark ruby all the way to a thin lavender meniscus. Big glass staining legs.
On the nose, chocolate, blackberry, plum, cherry, cedar, licorice and mossy forest floor.
On the palate, fresh fruit, medium but rough/angular tannins front and back, slight alcohol heat, black berries and cherries, nice acid.
Medium-long finish, with some nice charred charred oak becoming apparent.
With air the tannins became more chalky/powdery and wine started to show more balance
I must add that this has a classic Napa profile on the palate, with a hint of vanilla. This significantly exceeded my expectations, which were based on the label and the production volume.
I think this is going to be quite respectable as some age smooths out the tannins and it becomes more integrated.
Will try again in 3 years - looking forward to it actually (3268 views) | | Tasted by donash.com on 1/21/2013 & rated 89 points: - Ruby color and aromas of blackberry, mushroom and black pepper. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of black pepper and raspberry with a medium/full body. Linear texture with a medium finish. (3046 views) | | Tasted by garrigue65 on 1/11/2013 & rated 91 points: A virtual cocoon of a bottle. Initial nose of cocoa and cinnamon, followed by strong tannins. The half hour in the glass yielded a well constructed and balanced cabernet with dark fruit and spice and very smooth tannins. This is well paired with cheddar and dark chocolate. Should cellar well for 5 plus years. (2647 views) | | Tasted by Nyrican on 12/29/2012 & rated 89 points: Very dry with little fruit. Tannins provide a chalk feel. Went very well with steak. Has a very mild oak flavor. Not bad for the price point. Need to have with food. (2218 views) | | Tasted by corkscrews on 11/19/2012 & rated 90 points: A nose of dark fruit and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium bodied Cab with black currants, cherries, tobacco and spice on finish, a good value. (2274 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

| Kendall-Jackson Producer website
For more than thirty years, Kendall-Jackson has remained firmly rooted in a single-minded vision: grow honest wines of exceptional quality from sustainably-farmed higher-elevation vineyards in California's cool coastal winegrowing regions.Cabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma CountySonoma Coast |
