Tasted by vvWine.ch on 3/1/2024 & rated 96 points: (100% Syrah, 13.5% Alkohol) Rubinrot, am Rand mit orangen Rändern. (572 views)
Tasted by Deyue on 12/14/2023 & rated 94 points: Ruby red in colour. Dark berry scents, as well as violet, iron and spice. Deep, tight, concentrated and fresh, not a trace of age. Likely an exceptional Bordeaux and probably the best Northern Rhône red I have ever enjoyed. (620 views)
Tasted by peterk on 10/28/2023: Lots of life left in this baby (674 views)
Tasted by asteff on 9/10/2023 & rated 91 points: Nice bottle. Much better on day 2. Still felt like a lot of oak on day one. (825 views)
Tasted by boillatm on 11/26/2022 & rated 94 points: A cosy evening with family: At first a bit jammy, but it dissipated quickly. Superb wine really with some Burgundian accents (a guest noted it reminded him of a Vosne-Romanée).
Good to drink now, but I am sure it will develop nicely with time. Next bottle in five years if I can wait that long. (1578 views)
 Tasted by Raizes on 7/15/2022 & rated 93 points: 黑莓为主的果味十分浓郁,甘草、香草和胡椒气息紧随其后。拥有很高的集中度,香气在口中的呈现,比起“绽放”更像是依次钻入了味蕾,结合比较高的酸度和酒精,触感有力。均衡、紧致,但略欠整体的融合。回味中矿物和一丝苦味让整体风格显得越发严肃,有些许干涩。 (1765 views)
Tasted by chuckos77 on 12/19/2021 & rated 94 points: Paired well with tri-tip steak, as well as on its own. Soft, almost silky. (2142 views)
Tasted by kosmik on 12/5/2021 & rated 96 points: Speechless.
95-97+? (2131 views)
Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 10/2/2021 & rated 95 points: Deep dark colour, red/black rim.
Ink, cassis, plum, licorice, soy.
Super silky, absolute refinement, all across the palate to a long refined finish. Tannins and acidity superbly balanced. Dark berries, blueberry, licorice, graphite, ink and earth. Not overly developed, just nicely expressive, delicious bright fruit and lingering spice. (2161 views)
Tasted by Sundbyberg on 5/12/2021 & rated 89 points: Someone wrote "southern Rhone" as a descrition for this whine, and I find that very fitting. To me this is just too much.
Slighly jammy, with heat, and still with quite a lot of oak. Let this rest 5-10 years and hope for the best.
Really liked the 2012, but this was a major dissapointment. (2122 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 10/6/2020 & rated 97 points: During a blind tasting dinner. Youngish color, shiny, purple. Wow, my kind of Rhone nose ripe dark fruit, meaty. The palate is ultra-precise here, elegant, great tannins. A world class Syrah. Much better than the 2005 Pavillon which felt over-extracted and showed a lot of heat. (2817 views)
Tasted by dnnk88 on 10/6/2020 & rated 93 points: Wine Night Commanderie @ GWC!: Cassis, currants, raspberries, slight meat funk, spices. This is drinking well now. Guessed this to be a Rhone and likely a Hermitage as I didn't pick up any cola notes. Enjoyed this tonight. Just entering into its drinking window IMO. (2247 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 9/9/2020 & rated 91 points: Henri Boillot Clos de la Mouchère Vertical with Bonus Bottles (My home - Chicago IL): Served to us double blind. A very perplexing wine. At first I thought this from Burgundy, then switched to New World, cool climate Pinot Noir. Others thought this southern Rhône. We all definitely enjoyed the wine, with its rich black and red cherry character, subtle spice with roasted meat, and long, near elegant finish, but found it slightly non-descript. (2635 views)
Tasted by hargy on 8/21/2020 & rated 90 points: from a magnum - this was closed and not very giving at all - I would leave this for at least five years in this format (1517 views)
Tasted by Lipsman on 6/13/2020 & rated 97 points: Wow! Right out of the decanter this is explosive. Incredibly lush, and juicy, a cherry bomb, with anise, tar and a hit of strawberries. The flavors are anything but subtle, yet completely balanced, enrobed in a smoky veil. This is an over the top Hermitage right in the drinking window. Pull a cork today. Give it two hours in a decanter. This is exceptional. Drink now - 2035. (1510 views)
Tasted by ccsargent on 5/3/2020 & rated 96 points: Decanted for a couple hours. Really enjoyable tonight. Expressive nose of red fruits, menthol, beef blood... just gorgeous. Very smooth on the mouth with no heaviness. Will look forward to my final bottle in 5-10! (1346 views)
 Tasted by k H i L o on 2/2/2020 & rated 94 points: C'est vraiment d'une finesse exceptionnelle. (1507 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 11/29/2019 & rated 95 points: Took about 3-4 hours in bottle to open up. Rustic yet ripe dark fruit with a serious mineral streak running through it. Has time left but I’d drink these. (1707 views)
(1795 views)
Tasted by d'Artagnan on 8/30/2019 & rated 97 points: Wow! 96-97 pts (2100 views)
Tasted by robferguson1 on 11/16/2018 & rated 92 points: Started off a bit dry and sharp but by the end it had lots of velvet, could have been my palate (2085 views)
Tasted by KPB on 9/15/2018 & rated 93 points: A great bottle: Syrah at its best. Fully mature, but still deep purple in color, hint of amber on the rim. The nose is hard to pin down: red currents, but overlaid on basmati rice, roast beef, peanuts, toffee. The fruit is tart yet quite ripe, tannins are soft and the mineral lift on the finish carries the wine out for minutes... (2217 views)
Tasted by etyc on 5/28/2018: Dinner at Imperial Treasure Teochew, ION

TBU (1771 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 11/4/2017 & rated 92 points: Decant! Extremely hard and closed prior to decant. Opening up after a couple of hours (but longer time will likely do it good). Medium to dark red; sweet licorice, black pepper, deep ripe fruit; intense, masculine, tobacco and leather, quite tight (revisit in a decade?!), somewhat hard green tannins; fine now, but not ready and seems nowhere near reaching its full potential; score based on current impression - believe it will score (much) higher once it has further developed (2874 views)
Tasted by Blake Brown on 6/2/2017 & rated 95 points: 2006 M. CHAPOUTIER L`ERMITTAGE ERMITAGE- a gem that even in its youth, shines ever so brightly; the nose was redolent with spicy pepper notes along with some cranberry and blueberry fruit; all continued on in perfect balance to the back end; it was a sensory treat. Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

Northern Rhône

Guide to the wines and appellations of the Northern Rhone Valley -

The Rhône Valley/Le Vins de la Vallée du Rhône (Comité Interprofession des vins AOC Côtes et vallée du Rhône)

Regional History:
Phocaean Greeks established viticulture in the Rhone as far back as 600 BC, but until the 14th century the wines were not seen outside the region. The establishment of the Avignonese Papacy (1305-1377) brought fame to the region's wine-so much so that their Burgundian neighbors to the north banned wines from the Rhone in 1446, a measure that effectively cut off trade with England and other Northern European markets for over 200 years. Stretching southward from Lyon to just south of Avignon, the Rhone produces a wide variety of wines, with the appellations north of Valence producing the least (in volume), and the towns south of Montelimar producing prodigious amounts. As in other regions, the most interesting wines come from small farms. Saint-Joseph, in the northern Rhone, extends for some distance between Condrieu in the north to Saint-Peray in the south. The reds are made from Syrah and the rare whites from Marsanne and Roussanne, and Viognier.

Hermitage

Guide to Hermitage wine Guide to Cote Rotie - Read about the Northern Rhone Valley

• The appellation stretches over 3 communes in the Drôme "département" : Tain-l'Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Larnage.

• The soils are a combination of granite with alluvial quaternary delta deposits, and, on the eastern side, Pliocene clay. This diversity explains the numerous different names given to vineyard plots within the appellation : Bessards, Greffieux, Méal, Roucoule, Beaumes, etc.

• The meso-climate provides shelter from the north winds, where the majority of the slopes is well exposed, facing south.

•The vineyards area adds up to 134 hectares/331 acres, with an annual production of 3,635 hectoliters. Authorized maximum yield is 40 hectoliters/hectare (2.3 US tons/acres).

• Grape varieties : Syrah (an addition of up to 15% of Marsanne or Roussanne is allowed).
