Tasted by pakabear on 8/10/2023 & rated 92 points: Drink up, it’s at a perfect place with some secondary characteristics coming into play. I don’t see this lasting more than 3-4 years in optimal conditions. (385 views)
Tasted by barrytaylor on 8/21/2022 & rated 92 points: buttery, rich, long finish, fruit forward, (513 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 2/14/2021 & rated 93 points: A very nice richer chard that has aged well so far. It only suffered because it came after a magnificent 2016 Maxem Chard on Valentines Day. It is a more old school Cali chard and shows all the richness, viscosity, butter, oak, and more tropical fruit as it sits in your glass. None of these flavors are overdone and meld nicely. The finish is very smooth with a hint of acidity that keeps it lively. This rating reflects its best performance with some air and cool not cold temperature. (1303 views)
Tasted by RockyII on 2/12/2020 & rated 91 points: Mid straw yellow. Nose and taste of lemon, apple, garlic butter, crushed filberts (hazelnut) and slate. Pretty robust and not shy. Viscous and a bit grainy with some residual sediment in the second half of the bottle. About 91. (1900 views)
Tasted by Dsmith8942 on 9/13/2019: Top notch Chardonnay!! (1889 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 9/1/2019 & rated 94 points: Definitely cocktail like with both heavy sweet extract fruit and a good helping of oak. Closer to room temp the alcohol does poke through but along with a nice oily salinity. Still well made and not clumsy. Easy to throw back. (1972 views)
Tasted by Wine G on 8/27/2019 & rated 90 points: Mtolerico note below mirrors my experience.....I recently drank this bottle and have the same experience. I like it , but as the wine comes to more room temp, the alcohol becomes more evident. Comes off a little cocktail-ish. Needs a little time, perhaps. (1602 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 7/10/2019: Seemed young and awkward on this night. I'm not going to rate and see what my next bottle yields with some age. (1293 views)
Tasted by pakabear on 7/6/2019 & rated 91 points: Intense, lemon, citrus acidic juices, yellow apple, salty rock, lemon garlic butter, it’s a bit cloying and has heavy heat at the end. Could be better in a year or two, but 91 right now. (769 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 4/28/2019 & rated 92 points: This was golden straw colored, medium full bodied with big round mouthfeel, bright notes of green apple, tones of pear and citrus with subtle highlights of rich creamy caramel and light butterscotch, honeysuckle and floral, round acidity on the tangy finish.

Tasted by Somm David T on 1/19/2019 & rated 92 points: This wine was still in tank and new for Venge. It should be bottled sometime the week of January 27, 2019

The nose reveals; Lemon, lime, green apple, notes of green vegetables, buttered popcorn, cream, vanilla, whiff of caramel, light butterscotch, honeysuckle, fruit blossoms, yellow flowers and lilies.

The mouthfeel is beautiful. Its creamy, thick, big and round. White spice, green apple, lime, an array of mixed tropicals; banana, melon. Buttery, cream, slight vegetal characteristic, nice chalkiness with yellow flowers/lilies. Beautiful round acidity, thick, well, polished rich finish. Not your typical Napa/Sonoma Chardonnay...really enjoyed it. (935 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Napa / Sonoma

SONOMA: The Yorkville Highlands AVA, approved in 1998, is located in the southwestern corner of Mendocino County, between Sonoma County's Alexander Valley to the South and Mendocino County!s Anderson Valley to the North. The region is 25 miles long, roughly in the shape of rectangle and bisected by Highway 128 which runs the length of the AVA. The region!s terrain is hilly and forested, with elevations ranging from 1,078 to 2,442 feet above sea level.
The distinguishing features of the Yorkville Highlands AVA are rocky soils with a high gravel content and the climate, which is cooler than Alexander Valley but warmer than Anderson Valley, and significantly cooler at night than the surrounding areas.

Carneros

Straddles the southern ends of Napa & Sonoma Counties.
