Tasted by Dfortin9 on 2/4/2024 & rated 96 points: Concentrated, flavory and structured exuding blackberry, plum, licorice and cocoa. Full bodied, medium acidity and fine grained tannins, a masterpiece!. NI:4, FI:23, FC:9, B:5, L:5 (214 views)
Tasted by gstutz on 7/30/2023 & rated 93 points: Drinking very well. A little closed on the nose so decanted, then cassis and vanilla. Intense mountain fruit edging to blackberry and blueberry. Tannins come out on finish to lend some grip but still on the softer side. Bordeaux drinkers will dislike lack of structure but what a beautiful glass of Napa cab with a very long finish. (448 views)
Tasted by Kdad on 8/13/2022 & rated 94 points: Big wine. Dark berry, smooth tannins. (777 views)
Tasted by Sbuchholz on 6/19/2021 & rated 90 points: Very aromatic wine with dark berries, cherries, & earth.
First impressions of dark berries & oak. Fairly dry but well balanced with tannins suggesting this wine would still be delightful 5-10 years from now. Long finish. (1405 views)
Tasted by Scar510 on 7/22/2020 & rated 95 points: Bistro. Jupiter 7-21-20. Loved it! Jammy, easy to drink right out of the bottle. No headache. (1974 views)
Tasted by johnmfedorko on 6/26/2020 & rated 91 points: It was very much enjoyed as the first bottle of the long evening (1841 views)
 Tasted by Scar510 on 12/29/2019 & rated 96 points: 12-28-19
2015 moone chai hillside blend. Very smooth, jammy, excellent. Buccan west palm beach. (1791 views)
Tasted by Trickyone on 6/15/2019: Drank this very generous gift over several hours after a splash decant. It certainly wasn't bad, but the best way I can describe it was that it was exhausting. High alcohol (but then maybe 14.8% doesn't count as that anymore) wines can impress at first taste, but even taking time to nurse them over a steak dinner and its aftermath can be too much of a lush thing. The oak was relatively restrained and the color was still purplish. Could be years ahead of it or it could be another example of a wine that starts fast and doesn't have staying power. I will let others find the answer to that one. (2253 views)
Tasted by wineotim on 5/18/2019 & rated 93 points: Comparing this to the great '13 vintage...this carries a bit more oak influence, not quite as deep fruited, virtually no mineral component. More of an open and ready to go style, but just by degrees. (2361 views)
Tasted by rossi.wine on 10/27/2018 & rated 93 points: Dark fruit, spices, menthol on the nose. Good acidity on the palate, quite vibrant and lively, generous fruit, spicy, long. Hold. 92-93+ (1637 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
