Tasted by dbhatiamd on 9/10/2019 & rated 95 points: This wine is surprisingly amazing. Another example of not hanging your hat on Lisa Brown or Robert Parker. According to her the wine was supposed to be drunk within the first six years. This bottle has been laying in my cellar for 13 years untouched. It is an incredible bottle still vibrant, full of dark fruit and very polished tannins.
Could easily be confused for a cote rotie (1681 views)
Tasted by gitchacatcha on 9/17/2016 & rated 84 points: Great with salmon and salad. withstand years (3230 views)
Tasted by biggie on 12/17/2014 & rated 89 points: At pnp quite jammy but with decanting - sediment on cork and in bottle - after an hour became complex and interesting. Garrigue, ripe fruit and medium finish all combine to make this one a winner. Still holding well and able to go another 3 years. (4466 views)
Tasted by pgm on 10/3/2011 & rated 90 points: Purchased as a closeout price on the off chance there would be some life left. As such, a very pleasant surprise. A little cloudy with sediment, this would take some port treatment, standing for 24 hours and decanting thereafter. Only the slightest bricking of the color.
A nice clean CdP profile: raspberry, some plum, a little herbal spice, too. (7333 views)
Tasted by afitzhugh on 1/9/2011 & rated 92 points: Clean, crisp, smooth, pure fruit, elegant. Almost as if it were an intense Pinot. Very nice. (7605 views)
Tasted by Mark on 9/12/2010 & rated 86 points: No tasting notes recorded. A rather straightforward and uneventful bottle. (6862 views)
Tasted by steffenpelz on 11/15/2009: Wine Salon - November 2009 (Australia) (Chez Jahnke): Very straightforward wine. Smells like freshly poured cherry juice and shows little extra complexity on the nose. The good news is that it didn't get oaked and that the vibrant fruit was preserved well as a result. I can see myself drinking this, although I would add that if I had a choice of CdP vs this, I would choose CdP everytime. At the current price point though, this is actually a decent wine and QPR.  Tasted by rikipedia on 7/6/2009 & rated 85 points: Terroir-istes International - Australia-GSM (Rodwell House): Grenache (60%), Shiraz (20%) and Mataro (20%); this wine shows some development with ripe strawberry, bing cherry and red plum but equally molasses and balsamic tones. Medium to light bodied the wine has a syrupy texture with rather shapeless tannins and a warm generous spike of alcohol. Short to medium finish. (295 views)
Tasted by jeff nowak on 4/15/2008 & rated 84 points: not decanted. unremarkable, uninteresting wine of virtually no distinction. this could be any simple shiraz on the floating continent. makes you almost pine for some oak. (5431 views)
Tasted by BobBachus on 9/26/2007 & rated 92 points: This was surprisingly good. Has really smoothed out over the last few years. Very CDP like. (4546 views)
Tasted by tskrueger on 9/8/2007 & rated 86 points: Initial nose was funk and barnyard which dissipated over time. Decent wine. (4224 views)
Tasted by gordoyflaca on 5/1/2007 & rated 89 points: Plum stew with poop. (4546 views)
Tasted by borneman on 4/7/2007 & rated 91 points: Huge nose of cassis an ddark berries, followed by mouth-filling flavors of same and slight pepperiness. Medium-long finish. Great value. (4522 views)
Tasted by kenh on 2/19/2007 & rated 88 points: Popped and poured. Initially too cold (from the cellar) the wine was muted, with alcohol and heat showing morethan fruit. Twnety minutes after opening, with food, the wine was fruity, textured and tasty. Finishing the bottle after supper, the wine opened into a huge, multicolored beast, with melted licorice, cedar, raspberries, and vannilla. Delicious nose, delicious palate, long delicous finish. Unfortunately, the wine just kept gettng bigger and bigger and bigger - until eventually, it wasn't comfortable to put in my mouth. I don't know if this wine will tone down with time, but at this age, it is so big that it is not comfortable for two to finsih in a night. (4325 views)
Tasted by vancouvermatt on 2/17/2007 & rated 92 points: Drinking at its peak. (4420 views)
Tasted by vancouvermatt on 2/8/2007 & rated 91 points: Extremely solid rhone blend (grenache, mataro, shiraz). Fruit driven, food friendly and drinking very well now. Bought another bottle based on the 1st. (4448 views)
Tasted by trefoil on 1/13/2007 & rated 91 points: Medium-light, fruit and papery notes, fluent. (4519 views)
Tasted by SonomaFan on 1/4/2007: Took a while to open up. Very tannic at the start, but mellowed fairly nicely. (4440 views)
Tasted by Redzed on 12/26/2006 & rated 88 points: Nice fruit driven wine. OK, but not great. (4619 views)
Tasted by jeff nowak on 10/12/2006 & rated 85 points: 14.5% alcohol. barossa valley, australia.

60% grenache, 20% mataro, 20% shiraz.

i guess this is taking unoaked too far. the wine makes you wish for a little american oak vanilla, as the midpalate is washed out and completely forgetable. there's a bit of red berry fruit that captures some attention on the finish, but it's not enough for me to recommend the wine. boring, with a (rare ) capital B.

Tasted by IlonaN on 6/5/2006 & rated 88 points: Showed very well against a Gigondas but decidedly new world in style. Good acidity and bright fruit, just a dollop too much oak. (5353 views)
Tasted by zheem on 4/23/2006: Alittle young, delicious after several hours open. (5212 views)
Tasted by Veloman on 3/4/2006: Lots of round, smooth fruit on the palate, nicely balanced, with faint smokey, peppery, and earth (iron?) notes on the finish. Nice nose and a smooth finish, but a bit hollow or light textured on the midpalate, lacks the structure to make it really outstanding, but nice enough (with cumin-rubbed flatiron steaks, cous-cous salad, roasted veggies). (5557 views)
Tasted by pkbackman on 3/1/2006 & rated 88 points: Good spice-fruit balance. (5019 views)
Tasted by mrabinowitz on 2/3/2006: okay, but I wouldn't buy another bottle. Not much to it. (5644 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
