Complex, chewy, and silky. Beautiful bottle. Decanted for 2.5 hours (89 views) | | Tasted by jmottern on 4/6/2024 & rated 87 points: Disappointing bottle that was likely at the end of its drinking window. Rough fruit that was indistinguishable from jug wines. (988 views) | | Tasted by Rossdhu House on 10/31/2022 & rated 93 points: Amazing really opened up after about an hour of decant. Finish the rest on these two and three did it started to fade by day three but was still decent day to was very strong dark purple Inc. classic Alexander Valley full-bodied Cabernet would highly recommend. Mineral tea earthiness Integrated tannins present but not too strong long finish (1038 views) | | Tasted by SWHighlander on 8/11/2022 & rated 89 points: Forgettable Sonoma County cab from the Mayacamas Mountains in Alexander Valley. Library release from the winery for a wine dinner hosted by Jackson Family Wines and their MW Mollie Battenhouse (who is really good). Tasted non blind.
Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of cassis, white flowers, plums, cherries and raspberries. Flavors of raspberries, plums and cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink over the short to perhaps medium term. (1373 views) | | Tasted by Mapleglo330 on 12/5/2021 & rated 92 points: Found a bottle in my cellar I had not logged. Really good, getting some age on it, dark fruit, tobacco, cigar. Still has a few more years in it. Enjoyable. (1871 views) | | Tasted by jmottern on 3/6/2021 & rated 92 points: Very nice medium body cabernet (14.5%). Nicely balanced blackberry and blueberry fruit with a touch of cinnamon and caramel. Very very long finish with minerality. (1783 views) | | Tasted by jmottern on 6/11/2020 & rated 89 points: Deep red big body wine. Very slow to open up. Limited nose and OK but not memorable fruit. Several days later I drank the other half of the bottle that had been kept in a sealed wine carafe. The wine had gotten better. However, both times the wine did not meet expectations. (2097 views) | | Tasted by Plabella on 6/3/2020 & rated 94 points: I was totally surprised by this wine. It was graceful, full body with a great nose and great dark fruit. (2121 views) | | Tasted by wynnewood500 on 11/3/2019: A bit too fruity and sweet for me. (2407 views) | | Tasted by TMOVino2 on 5/27/2019 & rated 91 points: Jumps out of the glass with plums, blackberry, blueberries, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, sweet mint. Flavors of fresh blackberry, cherry, baking spices, cedar, and cherry. Was worth the cellar time as it’s entering its prime and should be peaking in 2-5 years! (2578 views) | | Tasted by kend707 on 5/27/2019 & rated 91 points: Just entering its drink window. Decante one hour. (2089 views) | | Tasted by slywka7 on 1/11/2019 & rated 90 points: Decanted and drank. Aromas of blackberry, currant, cherry vanilla and a touch of earth. Flavors of blackberry, currant, touch of cherry and touch of iron. Ends with a currant infused finish of 20+ seconds. This was certainly served too cool even though I pulled it out of the cellar the night before. Might have to raise that 60 degree house temp at 5pm to 4pm to accommodate on the ecobee. (2133 views) | | Tasted by Baron Slick on 5/23/2018 & rated 91 points: Bright and sturdy in style, this is expressive of its Alexander Valley roots. Currant and blueberry aromas over hints of dust, earth, leather, and cola. The dark berry and mocha flavors are upfront and approachable but counterbalanced by robust tannin and nice integration. Wet stones glide through the finish. Hits its sweet spot at the 3-hour mark. Nicely done. (2779 views) | | Tasted by slywka7 on 4/8/2018 & rated 93 points: Decanted for 40 minutes. Aromas of blackberry, currant, mocha and cherry. Flavors of blackberry, currant, cherry, mocha and touch of pepper. Ends with a long finish of 30+ seconds with blackberry notes. A fine value bottle for what your getting. (2496 views) | | Tasted by Not647f on 3/27/2018: With burgers. This was the last bottle, and I think the time was right. Has developed a bit more, not as simple. Rich dark berries and plums, some berry leaf aromas in the mix, gaining a bit of leathery and tobacco notes. At 6 years, probably could go and even improve for a few more. Much as these are made to be "drink now" pleasers, even the most basic style of good Cab probably benefits from more patience than we give it. (2219 views) | | Tasted by hhyder on 1/28/2018 & rated 93 points: 91pts for the wine and +2 for the QPR. Nice, fruit forward Cab. Not very complex, but smooth and balanced. (2378 views) | | Tasted by Sammy09 on 12/21/2017: Jerry Christmas exchange (2248 views) | | Tasted by Jchen01854 on 6/20/2017: Color: red purple Nose: more close upon open, fragnance of violet, toast and floral comes along after half an hour decant Body: full Taste: mostly bitter type as coffee or mocha, with some fruit, mostly red. Strong tanning Finish: medium to long Does not like a regular CA cab, or Bordeaux, not even the style of 2013 vintage I tried several months ago, which I seem to enjoy more. But this is not bad either. (3386 views) | | Tasted by Schiffy on 5/28/2017 & rated 90 points: Balanced Sonoma Cab with dark plum like fruit with active tannins even after a two hour decant. Strong notes of licorice, cassis and lavender. Nicely balanced but not particularly fruit forward. Excellent wine for the money but not a bullseye for my style of Cabernet. (3248 views) | | Tasted by tmok2000 on 5/16/2017 & rated 90 points: Medium body, okay cab. (3254 views) | | Tasted by Plabella on 5/7/2017 & rated 94 points: big wine dark fruit well balanced (3171 views) | | Tasted by Bax62 on 3/12/2017 & rated 89 points: Dark purplish color. Aromas of blackberry and graphite. On the palate, dark fruits especially plum with moderate tannins. 1989, Jess Jackson established Stonestreet Winery in the southern part of the Alexander Valley AVA. In 1995, Jackson purchased Alexander Mountain Estate and merged the two properties. Stonestreet now specializes in mountain wines.
Cabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyAlexander Valley Alexander Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia
