Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.2 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by PFLK on 9/16/2023 & rated 91 points: Was not decanted, which I should have done. This will keep on opening up and drink nicely for the next 4-5 years. Light red fruit, herbs and a note of vegetables. Minerals and a small classic Etna dust note. (243 views)
Tasted by benny-g on 6/29/2022 & rated 93 points: A great nerello mascalese. Vibrant fruit somewhere between red berries and black with plenty of pleasing acids. Still it gives a friendly and soft impression. Interesting notes of mushroom or even a bit of truffle. All very well integrated and round. This is also true for the obvious tannins that yield a very dry perception.
I had the 2016 yesterday and the characteristics are similar but this is darker in colour (with a brownish rim) and flavours and has that extra foresty touch and less sharpness. Also this is ready now while the one year younger vintage could benefit from some aging.
Get some more of both and drink this while waiting for the younger one to reach its optimum? (532 views)
Tasted by hbay on 8/1/2020 & rated 91 points: Cote de boeuf m stuvet svamp og stegte kartofler (748 views)
Tasted by aquinones on 4/13/2020 & rated 90 points: Medium garnet color wine with aromas of ripe red cherry, spices, licorice, and violet. On the palate, the fruit is sourer than the bouquet would suggest. Signature Etna ashy finish. '15 drinking quite nicely (658 views)
Tasted by AndyDobson93 on 11/27/2019 & rated 92 points: Stunning and savoury Etna rosso. Dried leather, herbaceousness and dehydrated cherry driven by tight acidity and potent structured tannins (863 views)
Tasted by chatters on 12/23/2017: Prince Christmas staff picks (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Polished oak and sour maraschino cherries. A little ashy. More of the same on the plate, slightly grippy and gritty tannins. Nah. (1721 views)
