Community Tasting Notes (average 90.9 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 1042 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Rbhan12 on 5/19/2024 & rated 90 points: Orange/pinkish color. Strawberries, orange-citrus acidity, some “oak” feel.

Don’t know the disgorgement date but I know I have had this sitting in the cellar for about 2 years. Good and enjoyable but not earth shattering. I’ve definitely had better rose champs from growers at a substantially lower price. (566 views)
Tasted by RichardsEric1 on 5/11/2024 & rated 92 points: At the tasting...

Color. Salmon pink

Nose. Strawberries, clove, graphite.

Palate. Strawberries, wood, even though there's no oak aging, maybe vanilla?? (666 views)
Tasted by king-bing on 4/20/2024: Decent but disappointing. Just not that interesting. and not cheap these days. (958 views)
Tasted by Dine&Vine on 4/16/2024 & rated 92 points: Strawberry, sea breeze, saline and spice. Definitely taste the red wine in this bottle. (1431 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 4/12/2024 & rated 89 points: Last minute wine lunch (Gary's): Drank about 1/6th of the bottle over an hour. Bright red fruit which seems rather primary. I can't get it out of my head that this reminds me of carbonated red Koolaid, there seems to be a similarity there. Even so, this has been a pleasant but understated champagne and clearly others enjoyed it more than me. (1342 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 4/12/2024 & rated 93 points: Wine Lunch (Gary's Place, Hudson, WI): Medium plus sockeye salmon color. Drank a glass over an hour. Strawberry, sea spray, rising dough, almond liqueur, candied cherry, allspice, river stones, elegant and classy. This was a little warmer than ideal which had some impact. (1334 views)
Tasted by Radboy on 3/23/2024 & rated 90 points: Strawberries and dark fruit for a bubbly. I didn’t pick up some of the more traditional bread or toast notes as others have. A bit spendy for the quality IMHO. I prefer Billecart Salmon at this price point. (1544 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 3/9/2024 & rated 94 points: During a MOT walkabout tasting. A Rosé de Saignée (or maceration one should rather say), darker pitched than the blended ones. I actually like this more. If feels authentically "red wine-ish" not just in color, but also on the palate with with lovely phenolics. The base NV Rosé Cuvée was already very good (94pt) and the Cuvee Alexandre (95pt) even more refined, but also 3x the price. (1903 views)
Tasted by BottleScholar on 3/3/2024: Red cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, ripe watermelon, tarragon, bread dough, and a whiff of baking spice. Slight tannins add structure. Acidity is lower and body is fuller than average. Deep color of shiny new copper penny and salmon color. Maceration method, 48-72 hours at 15C. 100% Pinot Noir. Stainless steel. Full MLF. 15-20% reserve wines of 1-2 years old. 5+ years on lees. 9 g/L. -Much from WSG Champagne class with Essi Avellan (1465 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 2/29/2024 & rated 94 points: Leap Day Lunch (Ciao Bella, Mpls): Light medium salmon color. Drank a glass over an hour. Absolutely on point again. Fresh, bright, sensous, strawberry, tarragon, sea breezes, floral, lifted, elegant and fabulous. Loved it as usual. (1443 views)
Tasted by Boda on 2/18/2024 & rated 94 points: Bright pink/red color. Bouquet of raspberries and creme fraiche.
Lovely acidity and balance. (1658 views)
Tasted by VlgJeff on 2/14/2024 & rated 93 points: Valentine's Day with Steve & Barbara (Their House): Disgorged in the 3rd quarter of 2019 based on the C91 printed on the neck of the cork.
As usual, we allowed this bottle to slo-ox for about 10 minutes which allowed the wine to "calm down" thus increasing the perception of red fruits and allowing the mousse to become creamier. The wine continued to improve and became one of the better bottles of this wine that we've enjoyed. The red fruits that we encountered on both the nose and palate -- a red berry mélange of strawberry, cherry and raspberry -- were lively. There was a touch of citrus, the mousse was creamy and smooth, and the acidity was lively and balancing. These are the elements of this wine that draw us in and make drinking it so enjoyable. We continue to consider this our go-to rosé champagne but remain concerned about the wide bottle variation that we, and others, seem to have been experiencing. (1081 views)
Tasted by Fugu Me on 2/14/2024: Disgorged Q1, 2022. Gorgeous wild salmon color in the glass. Saline, cherry and strawberry notes with light acidity. Paired well with a mountain of king crab legs for Valentine’s Day. (1477 views)
Tasted by bisky on 2/14/2024: Clean with a mineral background, with just a little creaminess. Elegant little berries dance on the palate, nice!! (1288 views)
Tasted by thewiz on 2/2/2024 & rated 94 points: (Disgorged in summer of 1986, base year 1981, 100% Pinot Noir)
Gently opening the bottle waiting for that slightest sound of a psscht revealing there”s still pressure left and raising the expectations for this almost 40 years old bottle. Deep blood orange colour with a gentle stream of bubbles rising in the glass showing baked bread and blood oranges at first. And with time in the glass it shows a lovely creamy note and then some burnt sugar in a delicious way. Smoothing orange citrus acidity combined with minerals and a creamy mid before the orange juicy finish takes over.
(Still showing a delicious effervescence and in a very refreshing style with almost 40 years extra cellaring) (1447 views)
Tasted by Sean Tay on 1/17/2024 & rated 91 points: Medium+ nose intensity with notes of red cherry, strawberry, bread, toast, mineral. High acidity. (1752 views)
Tasted by 87tellub on 12/31/2023 & rated 92 points: NYE 2023: Beautiful salmon and rose gold color. Nose shows off buttered toast and popcorn at first; saline and sea spray later. On the palate sea shell, orange rind. It is creamy on the mid-palate before developing into a very dry and crisp finish. Very nice. (1771 views)
Tasted by RandalWA on 12/30/2023 & rated 93 points: Strawberry jam on a buttered croissant. Beautiful texture, restrained bubbles. Very nice, if not spectacular, Rosé Champagne at a premium price bracket. (1601 views)
Tasted by Eriklainen on 12/28/2023: Handduksvin
No off scents or tastes. Gets going from pop but fails to become complex. Very svelte yet no acid monster. Cranberries, earth and slightest hint of tobacco (1643 views)
Tasted by larryw on 12/25/2023 & rated 88 points: Lacked the zest, flavor and overall mouth-feel that we expected based on price and on Laurent-Perrier reputation. A bit of a disappointment to say the least. (1632 views)
Tasted by Genghis88 on 12/25/2023 & rated 90 points: ***see previous notes

After last night's banger, today was a day to chill. Popped this tried and true favorite of Britts. Beautiful pomegranate color. Nice mousse.
Easy peasy sipping fizz. Decent price point. Grazed all day. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! (1413 views)
Tasted by mouton45 on 12/24/2023 & rated 92 points: Delicious pairing with our traditional Christmas Eve dinner: fresh Florida stone crabs with Joe's Stone Crab sauce recipe. Simple but decadent. The 100% pinot-noir LP rose undegoes a 48-to-72-hour maceration, giving it its rich black cherry color . Fresh and balanced; the acidity help cut through the tangy sauce (1188 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 12/24/2023: Pale salmon color. Drank a glass over an hour. Wonderful nose, earthy, dried spice and flowers, dried strawberries, tangerines, peach and bold ocean breezes. The palate springs forward with bright red berries, tangerine, peach, so delicate yet defined and precise. Love the lacy minerality. 93+pts. (1425 views)
Tasted by Floral on 12/18/2023 & rated 88 points: Bubble Tasting - NYC- Wine Berserkers and Co. (New York City): Complex enough to be worth some time. Interesting red current note. Bright. Easy. Was good on open and also evolved. Very solid. (1559 views)
Tasted by iamtramp on 12/17/2023 & rated 90 points: 우아하지만 NV의 한계는 있음
기대보다는 아쉬운 컬러지만 그래도 로랑페리에의 묵직하고 우아함은 매력적임 (1446 views)

Laurent-Perrier: Innovator in Champagne

The Laurent-Perrier style is grounded in the vision of one man,
Bernard de Nonancourt, who began creating champagnes
underpinned by freshness, finesse and elegance as early as the
1950s.
Above and beyond the style, what defines the House of
Laurent‑Perrier is its role as an innovator and pioneer in ensuring
of the quality of wines in Champagne. In 1959, Laurent-Perrier
created Grand Siècle, a blend of three exceptional vintages that
complement each other perfectly to recreate the perfect year.
In 1968, Laurent-Perrier introduced Cuvée Rosé elevating
non-vintage rosé champagne through a totally new type of wine.
In 1981, Laurent-Perrier launched Ultra Brut as the perfect
complement to nouvelle cuisine long before the “Brut Nature”
category was even created.
In 1987, Laurent-Perrier presented an exceptional marriage
between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with Alexandra Rosé vintage
champagne.
In 2017, Laurent-Perrier unveiled the evolution of its Brut Non-Vintage,
“La Cuvée”, showcasing significant advances in quality.
In 2019, Laurent-Perrier innovated with Blanc de Blancs Brut
Nature, no dosage, by perfecting its knowledge of stainless steel
vat vinification.

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
