Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.3 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 21 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Krassens on 12/9/2023 & rated 90 points: Nicely matured, lots of violets and blueberries, quite flowery yet with some white pepper, has evolved nicely over the years. Energetic but should be had in the coming 1-2 years, I think. (221 views)
Tasted by afields on 2/22/2022: Very ripe for Chinon, with only traces of pyrazine and no rustic or brett character. I’d never have called this blind but it’s pretty good for what it is, with lots of juicy grapey fruit and some savory mineral character too. M+ body, M to M+ acid, M- tannins. This will drink well for a few more years and maybe the mineral character will develop some. 6.3-6.4/10 (768 views)
Tasted by lucagiupponi on 8/29/2021: This started out REAL hot and unpleasant. After an hour in the glass, acidity and minerality emerged to add a bit of balance. Still fairly primary and rustic. A good daily drinker but not much more. (1137 views)
Tasted by MattMauldin on 7/5/2021: Tasted blind. Bright, full purple with clarity. Redolent aromas of currants, green pepper pyrazines, roasted espresso, black pepper, anise, bay leaf, tomato and violet flowers. Savory black fruit on the palate, pungent secondary depth of dried rosemary, five spice and flowers. Lean-bodied, with pronounced acidity and firm broad-grained tannins. Good overall complexity throughout. (1304 views)
Tasted by Vinolesgouines on 6/11/2021 & rated 86 points: Très bon Chinon. Fruits noirs mûrs bien gourmands, avec un peu de graphite et de petits tanins. (1196 views)
Tasted by benjamin96 on 1/6/2021 & rated 90 points: Tres beau chinon. (1722 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 10/1/2020 & rated 87 points: Black plum and currant with some meat and bell pepper notes, supported by background spice hints. Good weight and balance. A very good value wine, and a clear step-up over the 2017 I tasted a year ago. Good now, better to cellar another year+. (2150 views)
Tasted by yofog on 5/13/2020: Dense and primary, this packs loads of ripe fruit (14.1%!) and was showing pretty clean, with little barnyard or reductive stink to speak of. Juicy palate, and ripe tannins, makes it almost a thirst-quencher despite its relative weightiness. After a couple hours of air, the fruit really begins to brighten up and shows great clarity. Not especially complex, but really good and wholesome, well-composed Chinon. (1240 views)
Tasted by Eriklainen on 2/29/2020: Did not enjoy this. Nose is medicinal (in a bad way) and harsh, does not exhibit any (or enough), for me, typical notes of bell pepper or violets because everything is drowned in a not 100% healthy off-smell.
Most wine critics darling in Sweden but I just can't get my head around it. Of course the QPR is still acceptable as it is rather cheap and has a nice balance. Aftertaste is on the short side. (1184 views)
