Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 92.4 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Border Boss on 1/19/2022 & rated 93 points: From magnum. Double decanted four hours before service. Lots of tannins, with raspberry fruit popping out. Dark opaque red color. After a while in the glass, the tannins mellowed out. The wine became very Bordeaux-like.

Drinking extremely well with proper aeration. There's plenty of life left, at least in this format. Paired extremely well with roast saddle of venison with huckleberry sauce. (420 views)
Tasted by bigbass250 on 12/25/2020: Been waiting to have enough people to share this with and todays the day. We are at our 10 person Covid gathering limit so should be fun having with Christmas Dinner. It was truly spectacular opening bottle of many more to come. (599 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 5/18/2019 & rated 92 points: From a magnum bought at auction several years back. Dinner with Wendy, Simon Larry, Susan @ Eno Terra, great corkage friendly spot and knowledgable staff...Decanted for about 20 minutes, drank over an hour..

Medium ruby color, slightly faded/opaque. Nose showing bitter cherry, leather and earth. Palate repeats with faded raspberry, cedar, savory notes. Elegant texture, tannins resolved, smooth and nuanced through the back palate. Medium weight and finish.

Really drinking well right now, one might say technically past its prime but the mag aged well and the wine is drinking nicely. Aussie fruit is evident but settled and nuanced at this stage. Interesting wine, crowd liked it... (878 views)
Tasted by FakeAccount on 11/18/2008 & rated 93 points: Surprisingly good! Great aromatics and structure. Still youthful with no secondary notes. I plan to hang on to my other mags of this for at least 5 more years. (2603 views)
Tasted by JLeader on 2/9/2008 & rated 93 points: My number 2 wine of the night; beautiful floral, crushed stone and white pepper nose; inky and mineral-laden, but great balance; showing nice layers of complexity and mature at this point but holding in a very nice place. (2746 views)
Tasted by FakeAccount on 1/10/2008 & rated 90 points: Not as good as I remember it back in 2002. The wine has come together well and is aging nicely, but lacks the complexity I was hoping for. (2427 views)
