Tasted by Putnam Weekley on 5/18/2024 & rated 92 points: 59°F/15°C is starting to be a challenge to maintain in this season. NOSE (allison): the first smell out of the bottle is a serene arrangement of crumbled seasonings—Turkish oregano buds, seared meat glaze, coriander seed, dried lemon peel, all very bright and breeze-catching. Poring over it reveals a pulsing fluid of red and blue berry. MOUTH: a vestigial flood plane of round, solar fruit sugar. It takes shape rapidly with announced acidity and gritty, kilned pottery structures. Easy drinking. Imagine lapels folded inward. Wait 14,000 hours before drinking it again.
It was 14,000 hours ago when I drank another bottle of 2018 Pian del Ciampolo and it tasted 20% more primary than this one.
________
24 hours later this wine has gained in animal erudition. All of this evidence indicates a future of more points, and maybe as soon as 2026. (300 views)
Tasted by BoxerBee on 3/26/2024 & rated 93 points: Wow, this is so delicious! Cherry, cranberry, orange, and violet. Juicy on the palate, with a long, mineral and pleasantly dry (cherry skin) finish which also displays fresh herbs (a la Campari) and florals. Complex and highly moreish. Burgundian style, but also unmistakenly Tuscan. Drink now - 2030. (680 views)
Tasted by 100points on 3/14/2024: Ruby, pale edge
Red fruits - cranberry, cherry, raspberry, violets, some oak
Light-med bodied for Sangio, drinks like a much lighter read
Moderate-high acid, complex and ayered tannin
Not what I expected but beguiling and delicious (602 views)
Tasted by braised on 3/10/2024: Corked, that’s 2 for the case so far

Second bottle fresh and vibrant, but limited complexity. It held against a Biondi Santi rosso of the same vintage. Unless this is a sixth year dumb phase for the Sangiovese, I think these wines are showing the limits of the vintage. (586 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 3/1/2024: Not as intensely delicious as the one from three years ago. Stil, a good showing. Still on the young side with developing complexity, not fully integrated, harmonious nonetheless. thru 2029+. Easily recommended

Tasted by braised on 12/28/2023: Corked, then second bottle worked out. Something bitter in the mix, not a perfect bottle. (683 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 10/27/2023 & rated 93 points: Consistent with my prior notes. This still needs time but is just entering into a decent drinking window. Still dominated by sour cherry but some ripeness is starting to emerge. Deeper notes of dark chocolate and forest floor are also coming into play. I would hold another few years plus. (1080 views)
Tasted by Peter Spijker on 8/13/2023 & rated 91 points: Tasted drunk, clearly a very well made wine although perhaps not what I usually prefer. (1071 views)
Tasted by dpc123 on 7/20/2023 & rated 92 points: Really coming around on the 18 vintage (1040 views)
Tasted by Vinogan(s) on 7/4/2023 & rated 91 points: On the lighter side of the spectrum, really classically styled (1085 views)
Tasted by Steve.330i on 5/8/2023 & rated 91 points: very Tuscan wine, more Sangiovese driven, almost a Chianti, a lot of cherries and raspeberries, fresh, precise and mineral.. it developed very well over the last 2 years! I really enjoyed it! (1240 views)
Tasted by Peter Spijker on 2/3/2023 & rated 91 points: No detailed note made. (1368 views)
Tasted by Ted’s Wine on 11/25/2022: Really nice combo of depth and light. Versatile. Earthy. Drinkable. (1271 views)
Tasted by Madera16 on 10/30/2022: Really beautiful wine, lovely texture on the palate, fine tannins. Nose is lifted thanks to a gentle touch of EtAcO that makes it smell almost a touch like Sauternes. Lovely sangio as usual. (1395 views)
Tasted by dpc123 on 10/25/2022 & rated 92 points: A little time in the bottle has done some wonders for this one maybe. Very lithe and feminine. Glad I have more (1471 views)
Tasted by Twowinechicks on 10/18/2022 & rated 91 points: Bright clear ruby red, medium-bodied, fresh and lovely, with bitter cherry and spice notes, and a slightly astringent finish that holds on for quite some time. While at first one might think that (astringency) is unpleasant, the grip just keeps sailing on. This can hold its own with bbq steak, strong cheese, not to mention pasta! (1409 views)
Tasted by Putnam Weekley on 10/13/2022 & rated 91 points: Phases interlock here: there is some primary grape flavor; some benign putty-flavored reduction; and overflowing blooms of roses, Pinot Noir mockery, mineral altitude, and veal demi glace. Musky black Labrador grape skins govern the event. Sage, wilted in oil. It's the acidity that's hibernating, and this allows for the expiring outburst of bitter cherry pits and soy-banana. This wine will converge on perfection after another 1-3 years on its side. 91++ (1462 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 8/12/2022 & rated 93 points: 45 minute decant.
Great depth of flavor. Sangiovese notes galore, plenty of tannins; well-structured. Lots of good years lie ahead, but it’s hard to resist now. (1419 views)
Tasted by Twowinechicks on 7/7/2022 & rated 91 points: Mdium ruby red, slightly earthy nose, good body, simultaneously silky and tangy on the palate. Lovely balance. (1365 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 6/8/2022 & rated 93 points: 1 hour decant.
Medium ruby color; red fruit nose.
It’s classic Montevertine at a lower price point. Lots of house character: fresh, vivacious black cherry, Tuscan dust, etc. Round, mouth filling flavors. Moderate tannins and a good finish. Very nice wine; fair price. What’s not to like? (1462 views)
Tasted by MS86 on 6/3/2022 & rated 91 points: I was excited to try this entry level Montevertine little sister to Le Pergole Torte. Obviously still young but with two more bottles sleeping downstairs I was happy I tried this now. Sangiovese based. Delicate light ruby in the glass with a remarkably fresh nose of dusty red cherry, earth, leather and grass minerality. Medium tannins, ripe acidity, well integrated alcohol. Excellent length. Can’t wait to try this again in 2025! (1380 views)
Tasted by grafstrb on 5/1/2022 & rated 89 points: -- decanted approx. 30 min. before initial taste --
-- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --

NOSE: high-toned; cherry; smells like it will be at least a bit tannic; "winey"; hints of raw orange juice and black olive.

BODY: violet-garnet color of medium-shallow depth; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: "winey"; red-fruited; very lightly tannic; a touch of sweet red fruits; not big/gloppy; approachable; very easy drinking; seems to be best for near-term drinking. Not a rebuy at $30.

Tasted by A_rytter on 4/7/2022: Nose of slightly dark Fresh forrest berries, some milkyness. Very rounded and easy drinking. (1438 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 4/5/2022 & rated 92 points: 3 hour decant.
Fresh and delicious, with plenty of “house” character. Black cherry, dusty finish. Excellent QPR. (1475 views)
Tasted by James Kim on 3/5/2022 & rated 89 points: Decanted for 1.5h. Somewhat shy aromas of lovely cherries, herbs, brambles, bark, a hint of menthol. Palate w nice cherries accented by medicinal herbs, a bit of earth, and woodsy bark. Nice, juicy acids on medium body w moderate tannins. Nice moderately log finish of fruit accented by herbs. Definitely fruit forward but in no way overblown. Nice acids and more lively than I would have thought given the warm vintage. 89+ (1363 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
