Community Tasting Notes (average 89.8 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 6 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by klezman on 8/22/2015: Some tannin remains, and this is in a great place. Strawberries and herbs are everywhere with some nice hints of aged character. Brilliant. (1813 views)
Tasted by merryberry on 3/27/2015 & rated 90 points: Pretty much the same as last time. Excellent; a Cali grenache with character. Very fresh, not even a hint of age. Don't believe the "Drink By" date! (728 views)
Tasted by merryberry on 11/10/2013 & rated 90 points: Kind of dirty magenta, like they didn't wash the grapes first. Strawberry planter, cherry cola, and spice nose. Medium bodied, raspberries, pepper, bright cherries, sage, well integrated tannins, a bit of smoke and heat, and a nice, medium to long finish. Good on day 1, but much better on day 2. (1154 views)
Tasted by klezman on 11/5/2013: PnP a big strawberry flavour and nose with almost a medicinal note to it. Earth and herbs in the background as well. Air should do this one well.

An hour or so later it's smoothed out a bit, but still retains a big herbaceous character both in the nose and palate. Interesting. Not as similar to the Eaglepoint Winery's version from 2007 as I'd expect. Give it another year and change to see how it evolves. (2271 views)
Tasted by scott w on 12/31/2012 & rated 90 points: Nicely balanced QPR, fresh crunchy red fruit and nice finish. The hint of smoke adds complexity (1524 views)
Tasted by bigwineguy420 on 10/19/2010 & rated 89 points: A blend of 80% Grenache & 20% Syrah. http://tinyurl.com/2e7p2jk Bright, intense red fruit jumps out of the glass with hints of kirsch & sage. A bit racy for my tastes, but the wine is brooding underneath. Very nice. (1509 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
