Tasted by MQuentel@web.de on 7/2/2016 & rated 97 points: No this wine is not overrated ;-) This was a nearly perfect bottle of dry Riesling. The pureness, freshness and the aromatic depth/complexity were just great. A higl Level of minerlaity and a superb acitiy makes this wine to a great wine experience. (2170 views)
Tasted by vmad on 9/5/2011 & rated 90 points: Et snev av tropisk frukt på smak. Litt skuffende i forhold til 1999 Kieselberg som ble smakt i sommer. Såvidt bak 2001 Von Buhl Kirchenstuck på blindmakingen. (2082 views)
Tasted by ThMeyer on 9/1/2008 & rated 91 points: Wonderful ripe Riesling. Lots of peaches, lime and apple on the nose. Great texture. One can tell that it has matured, but that only adds to the complexity. Liked it a lot. (2145 views)

(Georg Mosbacher Ungeheuer Forst Grosses Gewachs) This was a mean wine. Bitter, astringent, acrid. Like eating orange skin. This was painful to drink. All acid and minerals and not balanced. The nose misleads you as it is very pretty with citrus, lime blossom and a floral component. But also a hint of rot sneaks in to detract. On day two it somewhat improves but still is a beverage I would not want to drink again. Too bad. I don't know if any of this will come around but I hear Mosbacher has greatly improved since 2002 and his 2007's are the real deal. Only tasting will tell.

Georg Mosbacher

Producer website

I had not visited the well-regarded estate now run by Sabine Mosbacher and Jurgen Duringer for close to a decade, and was quite impressed with the quality at this address. They spoke openly about concerns in 2007 that botrytis might compromise dryness not to mention quality, two reasons why they chose to utilize cultured yeasts for some cuvees rather than letting as many as usual of their fermentations take-off spontaneously. Had a low level of botrytis not been tolerated in the Grosse Gewachse here, those bottlings would probably have been closer to the understated but intriguing personalities of the rest of this year’s Mosbacher collection, but as it is they are certainly imposingly rich. - David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)
