Tasted by RDHudak on 8/20/2023 & rated 92 points: I don't know how, but this is better than ever. Loads of dark fruit, cedar and mixed berry. Full bodied and balanced tannin. Medium+ finish. Really sad I only have one left. (214 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 9/10/2022 & rated 92 points: These are still drinking wonderfully, with the slightest hint of age. Plenty of dark fruit, cedar and red berry. Integrated tannin and full body. Medium+ finish. This is fantastic and held up well over the course of an hour. 92-93 (517 views)
Tasted by BURGHen Boy on 5/16/2021 & rated 91 points: Smooth drinker. Bright blue fruit mixed with some darker black fruit elements. (971 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 10/4/2020 & rated 92 points: Just delicious. (1142 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 1/5/2020 & rated 92 points: It's gonna be a sad day when this is gone. Drinking so well, with loads of fruit, but perfectly aged. (1419 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 11/30/2019 & rated 92 points: Juicy and excellent. Drinking young, but gained depth and complexity with a decant. (1303 views)
Tasted by Mootsie on 11/3/2019 & rated 94 points: Perfect spot. (1282 views)
Tasted by David_T on 8/29/2019: Drinking well now, fully mature but no rush with impressions unchanged from my 2015 note. (938 views)
Tasted by klezman on 6/4/2019: Herbaceous, stemmy, earthy Cabernet with a nice underlying core of plummy fruit. Good on day 1 and day 2. (2014 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 4/30/2019 & rated 92 points: Man, what a great bottle. PNP, with informal notes, this was drinking young out of the gate, with plenty of fruit. It was damn near gulped by the wine enthusiasts in our group and all commented on its quality. It will be a sad day when this is gone. 92+ (794 views)
Tasted by dhammer53 on 4/20/2019 & rated 92 points: We drank this at our Seder last night. Slo ox'd for 60 minutes. A really dark grape color set the mood. This was an Oh Boy wine for 10 years old. At the $35 I paid, it was just as good as wines twice it's price. Good QPR. This is the last of my 09's (and '08's). Thanks for the ride Steve. No notes taken. If you have one of these in your cellar, drink and enjoy or hold. (925 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 3/17/2019 & rated 93 points: Damn, this is drinking so well at this point on the pnp. Loads of dark fruit and berry cobbler, this hs plenty of firming tannin to make this drinkable and food friendly. Continued to get better over 3 hours. 93+ (831 views)
Tasted by Mootsie on 12/16/2018 & rated 94 points: Spectacular place right now. (1314 views)
Tasted by Mootsie on 10/28/2018 & rated 93 points: Same as the last bottle. Deep, complex wine. (1347 views)
Tasted by dhp. on 10/22/2018: Bizarrely primary this time. Last 4 bottles felt prime. (1194 views)
Tasted by Mootsie on 10/21/2018 & rated 93 points: More perfumed and spicier than the ‘08 version. Really interesting wine. (1223 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 9/9/2018 & rated 93 points: As be fore. I may be rating this a bit low. Pleasant and good with food or by itself. Do yourself a favor and grab some of this. (1143 views)
Tasted by Vietty on 7/2/2018: Ruby red with a tinge of magenta and some sediment. Pleasant nose of dark fruit and spices, no overt alcohol fumes. Tastes of blue and purple fruit with evolves into very subtle notes of tobacco. Light handed oak. The tannin is fine, good quality. Texture is silky without being mouth coating/syrupy. Fair acidity. Good density and finish. Very good balance. Good example of elegant Napa cab that has classic cabernet sauvignon flavors. I noted that my wife went through her glass fairly quickly (as did I) and she exclaimed "it's very easy to drink!" We both agreed the wine tasted good before and during the dinner, which is not often the case for many of the Napa cabs we've encountered. Pop and pour, drinking well right now. (1632 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 6/26/2018 & rated 93 points: Totally singing on night 1. I saved a couple of glasses for night 2, but the wife used it for cooking before I could catch her. @#$%^^& This bottle showed as before, which is excellent. I absolutely adore this winery! 93-94 (1492 views)
Tasted by Seo on 4/11/2018 & rated 91 points: Wow. Still so fresh. No formal notes. Great red and white cherry flavosr. Fantastic balance. Integrated tannins. Pretty flawless. Shame it’s my last (1582 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 4/8/2018 & rated 92 points: As before. The nose was a bit more subdued, but this was a solid bottle of wine. (1387 views)
Tasted by jhemming on 2/15/2018 & rated 92 points: Really nice napa cab that fall right in the middle with typical flavor profile. Equally expressive on the nose and the oak is quite restrained. Has plenty of life yet. (1358 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 2/15/2018 & rated 92 points: This is becoming my comfort wine. It's simply delicious and perfectly balanced. Lasted 3 days with no decline. 92+ (1020 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 1/21/2018 & rated 93 points: Similar to my first experience. Fantastic nose of dark fruit and dusty earth. Quite Bordeaux like. Layered, rich palate with excellent structure. Medium-long finish. 93+++ (1071 views)
Tasted by scott w on 1/2/2018: Another solid bottle (1161 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
