Woah what a overperformer.. Reductive, nutty, lemon curd and minerals/saline. This is quite beautiful and interesting today, not a blockbuster for sure. It’s really refined, elegant, almost fleeting but with good nuance and tertiaries. Probably hitting its peak. Vougeraie really performing today, lip smacking! (350 views) | | Tasted by Jammy Wine on 4/9/2019 & rated 90 points: I threw this 2011 Domaine de la Vougeraie Vougeot 1er Cru Blanc in a blind tasting as a curve ball. The three tasters I served blind to went all directions, Puligny, Chassagne and Meursualt. A couple months back my friend served this wine blind to me and I thought it was a Grand Cru Puilgny Montrachet from an ‘okay’ producer. Note: Saline minerals with broad white fruits. Grand Cru viscosity with some heat. Made by Pierre Vincent (now at Domaine Leflaive), his whites certainly outshines his reds. (90-91/100) (2224 views) | | Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 3/11/2019: There’s some spearmint and almond cream. It is layered, full and long, with something cool and floral lurking just below the flesh. (2006 views) | | Tasted by Rowchan on 5/26/2018 & rated 92 points: Clear, perfect golden brass with white rim, with very slow perfectly-spaced perfect little tears. Clean, full intensity, with aromas of green gage, quince, pears, pineapples, clover, and lemon. Dry, med body, med+ acidity, med alcohol, no tannins, with further tastes of gooseberries, red apples, perfect oak, Maldon salts and lemons. Fantastic long finish (2277 views) | | Tasted by dcwino on 6/25/2017 & rated 90 points: Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Very modern Californianesque wine, rich yellow fruits, medium concentration, medium acidity and a medium finish. (3673 views) | | Tasted by Burgundy Al on 6/25/2017 & rated 89 points: Musique & Vin - Dîner de Gala - Dixième Edition du Festival (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Pear, apple and lemon peel. Good weight, length and acidity with a bright finish and good+ balance. (2857 views) | | Tasted by fcxj on 6/25/2017 & rated 80 points: MeV Gala. Meh, unbalanced. (2597 views) | | Tasted by startinoz on 9/13/2016 & rated 93 points: Some pinot gris and 1% pinot blanc. Pale yellow. Clear creamy, almond oak aromas. Light texture. Lemon and stone fruit. Lemon juice and pith medium finish. (1618 views) | | Tasted by wgoelen on 6/24/2016 & rated 93 points: What an excellent wine. Flinty smokiness, combined with a creamy richness. I have drunk this +/- 30 years ago (Not de Vougeraie of course) when it was more peculiar than good, but this is outstanding. (1563 views) | | Tasted by dbkitc on 6/22/2015 & rated 88 points: good richness that easily stood up to the fish. Could use a few more years to settle and integrate. (88) (2141 views) | | Tasted by galenico on 5/22/2015 & rated 92 points: Sempre più a fuoco, tagliente e in sottrazione... una schiuma di limone e cristallo. Probabilmente il miglior bianco della Cote de Nuits (2434 views) | | Tasted by chatters on 3/25/2015: Burgundy Tasting (Ivy, George Street, Sydney): Medium minus intensity aromas of vanilla, muted peach over slight citrus….juicy fruit more o the fore, quite rich with peach and apple, some waxy burring but the fruit persists on the long finish and is accompanied by some non-intrusive alcohol warmth. Nice (2258 views) | | Tasted by fredalan39 on 12/24/2014: Very good (1543 views) | | Tasted by danstrings on 6/14/2014 & rated 91 points: Lovely oily chardonnay-juicy yet steely minerally balance. (1844 views) | | Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 4/25/2014: This is kind of built like Vougeot red, muscular, dense and weighty. It has some lightly candied fruit notes and good volume. I like where the wine is today but it might get a bit tropical with age. (1591 views) | | Tasted by Vintomas on 2/28/2014 & rated 90 points: Buttery, slightly nutty, and oily with mineral, good concentration on the palate. Accessible, ready to drink. 90 p (1583 views) | | Tasted by galenico on 2/26/2014 & rated 89 points: MASTER BORGOGNA AIS; 10/15/2013-6/28/2014 (HOTEL WESTIN PALACE MILANO): 25% legno nuovo. Al naso un baby-Meursault! Burro diluito, corpo e pasticceria, caldo e pulito. 2018 vintage: "marked by a wet spring, a superb summer and a good harvest" 2019 vintage reports 2021: "From a general standpoint, whether for white, rosé or red wines, 2021 is a year marked by quality in the Rhône Valley Vineyards. Structured, elegant, fresh and fruity will be the main keywords for this new vintage." 2022 harvest: idealwine.info | wine-searcher.comBurgundy Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)
Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes: * "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons * "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson * "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson
# 2014 Vintage Notes: "We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates
# 2015 Vintage Notes: "Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson
# 2017 Vintage Notes: "Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson
# 2018 Vintage Notes: "The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
