(587 views) | | Tasted by redz on 3/16/2021 & rated 90 points: I'll decant next time. icy pale gold color. Subtle tropical nose, nothing as intense as the wonderful Uleses of the same vintage. A little acidic on the palate, fading to mouthwqtering melon, long finish. Mighet improve with decant or age. Great with fish tacos, (681 views) | | Tasted by Beep on 3/10/2018 & rated 90 points: Golden color. Very pleasant nose of cotton candy and pear. Light oak. Still drinking well. Candied apple and pear on the palate. (1549 views) | | Tasted by Thief on 1/6/2018 & rated 93 points: Delicious pineapple and tropical flavors. Rich luscious. (1439 views) | | Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 4/8/2017 & rated 92 points: In its prime drinking window. Deep golden color with a viscous texture starting to show maturity and caramelization. A fair amount of oak runs throughout but its not overwhelming and is complimented by some minerality. It would have scored a point better but finishes flat with a strange vegital note. If you have any left I'd drink in the next year or so. (2063 views) | | Tasted by bzell on 3/21/2017 & rated 91 points: Really nice chardonnay buttery feel in mouth with notes of tart apple, pear, and long creamy finish. (1652 views) | | Tasted by jzebrack on 3/17/2017 & rated 87 points: Other people liked it but this was not my style of Chardonnay. This was much more of the California style, fairly oaky and rich. We tend to prefer California chardonnays that are patterned more after French style chardonnays. (1572 views) | | Tasted by Ridgerunner on 1/28/2017 & rated 91 points: Great bottle for its price point (1074 views) | | Tasted by davidandrose on 11/24/2016 & rated 92 points: Last half of a previously Coravin'd bottle. Pear, fig and apple on the nose. Great balance on the palate with a firm and crisp approach, and a faint, almost (but not quite) buttery softness on the finish. Sadly my last of two bottles. (1265 views) | | Tasted by danckie on 10/21/2016 & rated 91 points: Fruit bursts out of your glass. Apple, peach, tropical fruit.a Nice hint of lemonny acidity in the finish. Full but not heavy. New world style without the fluid oak experience. Enjoyable, might be a tad bit overpriced. But overall a good glass of wine, for sure. (866 views) | | Tasted by hoservin on 9/23/2016 & rated 91 points: Tropical fruit, fig, apple and lemon. Leads to a long, ripe juicy finish with good acidic balance. Served with fettuccine alfredo. (869 views) | | Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 6/18/2016 & rated 92 points: Creamy butterscotch, lemon zest, buttery toast, and tropical fruit. Pretty standard issue high quality Ca Chardonnay. (1369 views) | | Tasted by Ridgerunner on 3/24/2016 & rated 90 points: Good basic pinot (1345 views) | | Tasted by hoservin on 2/21/2016 & rated 92 points: Nose of apple, pear, melon and lemon zest. Apple, fig, melon, lemon and coconut on the palate. Long finish with bright acidity. Well balanced. Paired with chicken Caesar pasta. (1294 views) | | Tasted by hoservin on 9/7/2015 & rated 92 points: Nose of fig, apple, melon and lemon peel. Palate echoes the nose and leads to a long, soft finish. Very well balanced. Paired with baked stuffed shrimp. (1971 views) | | Tasted by davidandrose on 8/30/2015 & rated 92 points: Followed over 2 tastings; dark straw in color with citrus dominant but melon and pine nuts other notable flavors. Not buttery but its clean and crisp finish still has staying power. Fine on its own or with food, (1863 views) | | Tasted by BeachBum_73 on 5/16/2015: - Yellow color - Ok. (1848 views) | | Tasted by hoservin on 4/3/2015 & rated 92 points: Nose of apple, melon, pear, lemon peel, coconut and spice. Apple, melon, tropical fruit, lemon and spice on the palate. Leads to a long, soft finish. Good acidic balance. Paired with pasta with peas and pine nuts. (1708 views) | | Tasted by gew71walsh on 2/5/2015 & rated 92 points: Same as last bottle. This is palate pleasing experience. A notch higher rating because drank with friends and we were in a festive mood. Paired with chicken piccata and roasted cauliflower. (1748 views) | | Tasted by pianist718 on 1/14/2015 & rated 92 points: Very very interesting wine. Little acidity but a very beautiful finish. Possibly most unique one ever for me. Goes great alone or with food. We had it with wild salmon, mashed potatoes and shrimp. Later with just cheese and crackers. Very refreshing.
Held it for a 2nd day out of curiosity. It was very good still but not sure if an extra day gave this wine anything other than some extra acid maybe.
What you taste right out of the bottle versus waiting about 10-15 min for your wine in the glass to get some air is very different. Maybe we'll decant it next time just for fun. (3721 views) | | Tasted by hoservin on 11/16/2014 & rated 91 points: Nose of apple, melon, lemon, fig and spice. Apple, melon, citrus, tropical fruit and spice on the palate. Leads to a medium to long, soft, dry finish. Good acidic balance and mineral character. Paired with chicken chowder. (1550 views) | | Tasted by gew71walsh on 9/22/2014 & rated 91 points: Apples and citrus on the Nose and palate. Nice acidity, with a subtle amount of oak. This is drinking nicely and will be good for another couple of years. (1503 views) | | Tasted by sbash21 on 8/14/2014 & rated 90 points: Distinct flavors of pear and melon dominate this well rounded chard. Not at all overly oaked and very pleasant to drink. Solid representation of Hobbs RRV. (1568 views) | | Tasted by emzee.mc on 6/22/2014 & rated 90 points: Clocking at 14.2 percent, this Sonoma chardonnay pours a pale straw color with long legs. On the nose, the alcohol was apparent. Nevertheless, there are notes of honeysuckle, vanilla, cream, peaches and lemon. There is not much citrus in the scent. On the palate, the wine is very well structured although it is a but thin. Nevertheless, It is easily drinkable as it cascades easily down the throat. Again, alcohol is very apparent. There is also more fruitiness in the wine, with citrus, wheatgrass, honey and peaches dominating the palate. Very low acidity and the wine is quite buttery but not over-oaked. Finish is long and very refreshing. Great effort. (1462 views) | | Tasted by REWindsor on 5/7/2014 & rated 91 points: Great extraction from RRV. Citrus, lemon, brioche notes. Oak is in the background unlike many. Beautifully balanced. Great Cali chard. (1635 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

| Paul Hobbs Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
