Grapefruit, grassy, balanced acidity, decent weight. Great choice for a big group (5286 views) | | Tasted by Al Doughty on 3/27/2015 & rated 90 points: Savory aromas of cat pee and flinty stone lead to a remarkably well weighted and layered palate of bright tropical fruit, mandarin and grapefruit. Shows great length too. Stunning value for low cost NZ sauv. blanc. (5157 views) | | Tasted by russozirkelj on 3/15/2015 & rated 85 points: Very light and refreshing. Lots of grapefruit tones. Perfect for summer. (5120 views) | | Tasted by TannicBeast on 2/20/2015 & rated 87 points: Tasted blind. Clear, day bright, pale straw with green hues and some rim variation. Light staining on the medium legs. The nose is clean, youthful and intense, with aromas of citrus and grass, and vegetal aromas of green pepper, jalapeņo and cabbage. Some organic, potting soil aromas and no real sign of oak. The palate is dry, medium-bodied, with fresh lime, grapefruit, a hint of green pepper and wet rock flavors. Still no sign of oak. The alcohol, acidity, finish and complexity are all medium (+). A fairly textbook example of a young, New World, cool climate SB. Drinking very well now, not intended for aging. A very good value at $13 and under. (5243 views) | | Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 12/20/2014 & rated 89 points: For my palate, this is the perfect style of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. This is the epitome of their newer style, less aggressive, more civilized approach. It is still pure New Zealand. The nose and the palate are super intense and hard hitting, just a little more balanced on the attack. Moderate herbal, gooseberry and grassy nose. The concentrated but elegant and expressive lemongrass, gooseberry, lime, clementine, grapefruit and lemon fruit indulges the palate as soon as it touches the lips. Superb balancing acidity. The finish has a steely note to the pepper spiced kiwi, lime and orchard fruit flavors. (5716 views) | | Tasted by nzinkgraf on 11/2/2014: passion fruit and grapefruit aromas. suave, not prickly aromas. a softer style of NZ SB. Not quite to the extent of Palliser in Martinborough, but... 'a tropical fruit salad.' (1408 views) | | Tasted by woody57 on 8/24/2014 & rated 89 points: This has become one of my new favorite NZ SB's. Its unique feature is that the citrus is much less brash and overpowering than most. If the tropical fruits were more distinguishable, it would score even higher. Great QPR. Those most comments reflect drinking it with food, if you are an appreciater of this genre I think it is well worth drinking by itself. (1464 views) | | Tasted by mazik on 8/17/2014 & rated 89 points: Fruit salad followed by stone -- the nose says pineapple and passion fruit, it's juicy, with plenty of minerality on the palate. Definitely a food wine. (1373 views) | | Tasted by hellowine on 4/22/2014 & rated 89 points: Cheap and cheerful. Lots of grapefruit on the nose. Dry but not bone dry. good grassy component with a wee harsh bitter bite on the finish. Not terrible to me, but I had it served bracingly cold with complementary food. (1813 views) |
