Sweet ripe strawberry, baked red apple and ever-so-slight prune notes. Long, baked apple finish. I liked it a lot. Like an amontadillo without the baked pruned notes. (2760 views) |

| Tasted by Vino Me on 12/21/2008 & rated 91 points: Gourmet dinner #2 (Allred's home): Scubarex brought this wine to match with his dessert. Pretty color. I've had prior vintages before and have found them very intrigueing. Notes of raspberry and strawberry. Good acidity with a little bitterness on the finish. 91 points. (3381 views) |
| Tasted by Ombibulous on 4/28/2008 & rated 85 points: My first experience of Cabernet Franc eiswein. It mainly tastes of red raisins, with just a wee hint of maple syrup (because it's Canadian). Somewhat of a strange middle-aftertaste. Overall, very good though (84.5). (1874 views) |
| Tasted by jjclips2 on 7/12/2007 & rated 94 points: Probably the most interesting dessert wine experienced. Held a pale tawny colour with salmon highligts. Intense strawberry/rhubarb nose with raspberries, cinnamon, and cloves. Sweet palate of strawberry, cranberry, and vanilla. The interesting element was a hint of tannin structure in which added to the already viscous texture. Medium to full body with well balanced acidity and residual sugar. Absolutely delicious. | Tasted by giveitalittlesniffysniff on 5/5/2007 & rated 88 points: Great color, fun to see a red dessert wine in most circles. Very well represented sugar, but I would have preferred seeing a little bit more acidity and crispness, I guess.... because the wine lacks real complexity in flavor. So to balance that in a dessert wine, we need a wine of incredible 'build quality,' if you will. Dont get me wrong, there is some electricity here, and a few nuances- the main flavor being Mott's cherry juice- just not as much as I would like to see, and im sure most would agree. Overall, worth trying in a restaurant or for a group of really good friends at home. The fact that few wine drinkers have ventured into some of the higher end dessert options will make you a hero if you provide this wine in a group setting, and this fact, coupled with the unique aspect that the wine is a Cab Franc, will make for great spirits and lively discussion. | Tasted by IlonaN on 2/26/2007 & rated 95 points: I know it's made from cab franc, but this really is more like a rose or white dessert wine than a red. Much lighter in color and body than a true red dessert wine. Brought by BH to dinner on Oscars night. Tried this a year ago and wasn't too impressed, but a year later, this has evolved into a nearly perfect dessert wine. Richly aromatic, with dried fruits, toasted almonds and a hint of vanilla. Silky but with good acidity, just delightfully light yet rich on the palate. (2513 views) |
