Tasted by JohnTheBastard on 7/2/2022 & rated 93 points: A fun bottle to open on July 4th weekend. Nice, round, briochey bubbles. Not as interesting as some of the other special club bottlings from 2004, but the magnum format is fun to open with a crowd. (427 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 3/4/2022 & rated 90 points: Our final bottle. Mature deep straw color with a medium mousse. Abundant orchard fruit with subtle nutty undertones. The palate follows the bouquet adding a brioche quality too. Lovely mature Champagne. (511 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 7/31/2021 & rated 92 points: Mature yellow color with a medium mousse. Notes of apple, yeast, cashew and brioche. Fine bead. Flavors of bruised apple, dough and almond. Not as advanced as our last bottle, but definitely mature and drinking well. (834 views)
Tasted by acyso on 6/26/2021 & rated 90 points: From magnum. White-fruited and bright, with the perception of sweetness provided by the ample fruit. Driven more by fresh acids than raw power and breadth, this lacks a bit of oomph on the palate, but is very easy to drink. (1426 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 4/4/2021 & rated 92 points: Last bottle. This was creamier than previous bottles. Slightly holder in color as well. Nots of brioche and chalk. Drink now. 92 points. (875 views)
Tasted by Murf130 on 2/14/2021 & rated 89 points: May have waited too long on this one. Matured. Drink now If you have it. Happy Valentine’s Day!! (552 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 3/8/2020 & rated 89 points: Second Sunday Group: 2010 Chateauneuf-du-Pape (R&D's): Nonblind before the warm ups. Nice and yeasty, with with orchard fruit underneath, and there's also a slight hint of butterscotch. Medium bead. Apple and wet dough flavors. Mature-will drink our remaining two by year's end. (988 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 10/21/2018 & rated 92 points: Opened by Steve from magnum at his daughters wedding. This was showing very well. Light gold color. Moderate bead. Notes of ripe apples, chalk and bosc pear. 5th time I have had this. I have 1 bottle left. 92 points. (1032 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 10/20/2018 & rated 92 points: From magnum, courtesy of tlv, to toast his daughter's wedding. Apple and roasted nut aromas. Medium bead. Baked apple, pear and stone flavors. Finishes well. A very nice showing, albeit mature- would have hoped for more freshness in this format. I'll need to check in on my bottles soon to see how they are maturing. (744 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 9/7/2017 & rated 95 points: Opened at the CDP by LostVerse. From magnum. 4th time I have had it and the best showing yet. 95 points. (1575 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 8/26/2017 & rated 93 points: Cellar diminishment party- brief note. Magnum. Courtesy of tlv. Apple and toast bouquet. Fine bead, rich and toasty; orchard fruit. Excellent. (1152 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 3/8/2017 & rated 92 points: Opened by Lostverse from magnum. 3rd time I have had this wine. At first the bottle was too warm and did not show as well as my previous tastings. However, we put it on ice and when I tried it later in the evening it showed much better. Notes of citrus and chalk. Very clean, fresh and crisp. No rush to drink this. 92 points. (2043 views)
Tasted by thelostverse on 3/7/2017 & rated 94 points: Opened at Adelle's with some of the CWM. Similar notes as prior bottles. This has improved slightly since prior bottles. (1289 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 12/31/2015 & rated 91 points: From magnum, courtesy of tlv. Persistent mousse with notes of hazelnut and vanilla custard and baked apple. Fine, bordering on medium bead, with apple, almond cream and wet dough qualities; rich. Lengthy finish. Drinking very well. 91+ pts. (2032 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 12/24/2015 & rated 92 points: Opened by Mark. From magnum. 2nd time I have had this wine. Creamy and deep with similar notes as before but it seems to have put on a little more weight. 92 points. (1739 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 12/17/2014 & rated 93 points: LostVerse opened a magnum at Bistro Margot. 100% Chardonnay from the Cote de Blancs. Low to moderate bead. Green apple aromas. Notes of citrus and minerals with a creamy texture. I would let this site for a few more years at least. Excellent sparkler but not up to the standards of the 2002 bottling of this wine. 93-94 points. (2170 views)
Tasted by thelostverse on 12/15/2014 & rated 93 points: Opened at CWM offline with Italian Wino and Parcival in town. From magnum. Citrus nose with a hint of yeasty brioche. Similar palate with a touch of almond as well. This has come far since prior bottles. 93+ (1650 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 12/12/2014 & rated 93 points: From magnum, courtesy of thelostverse. Notes of brioche, cashew and apple with an intriguing saline undertone. Rich and toasty with a fine bead and a lengthy finish. Impressive for the price point. (1684 views)
Tasted by tooch on 8/27/2014 & rated 93 points: Chablis Fest (Shaw's Crab House - Chicago, IL): A really impressive, young, champagne. Tons of power, with lots of energy and lime flavors. The palate took some time to open up, but when it did the lemons and limes really began to expand. Incredibly young, but already showing signs of greatness. (2549 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 3/27/2014 & rated 91 points: Chicago Italian Lovers round 9- 99 Brunellos for the first anniversary of the group (Vinci, Chicago): Nose: There is a real elegance to the nose with fresh picked citrus notes, minerals, red apples, white florals, warm dough, and biscuits. The nose is wide open with excellent depth and class to it too.

Taste: Medium bodied with a silky feel and m/h acid. The structure is certainly there with fresh picked citrus notes, minerals, red apples, warm dough and some baking spices on the back end.

Overall: This is a lovely young special club. There is a real sense of class and balance to it, but some more time is needed to let it truly shine. (2326 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 1/1/2014 & rated 93 points: Lovely super fine bubbles. Lots of toasty qualities, buttered toast, peaches, pineapple and a touch of nice tropical coconuts and guava. The palate is moderately complex but shows really nice texture and mouth feel. A tasty unique Special Club. (1367 views)
Tasted by Nonvintage on 5/11/2013 & rated 89 points: Very dry and mineral. More austere than expected based on house style and the 2002 and I wonder if this is bottle variation. Baked apple and a bit of lemon with mainly wet stone. Nice lingering finish. Am going to give my remaining bottles a bit of time. (1691 views)
Tasted by thelostverse on 2/5/2013 & rated 91 points: Opened by Allred at Adelle's with CWM and steve8. Opened along with an N.V. L. Aubry Fils Champagne Brut 1er Cru side by side. Nose was almost exact on both these, but the Launois was less tart and a step ahead. Prefer the '02 that was opened recently, but I think this will be nice with some cellar time. (1434 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 2/5/2013 & rated 92 points: Aromas of lemon, Honeycrisp apple, citrus and yeast with a terrific toasted overtone. Medium bead with flavors of citrus, lemon, stone, mineral and almond. Just a tad bit behind the 2002 opened in December, but that cold just be the benefit of a couple of years. A very worthy successor. 92-93 pts with plenty of upward potential. (1756 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
