Great QPR when purchased with age. (503 views) | | Tasted by drfloyd on 4/7/2020 & rated 90 points: Really enjoyable - great nose of minerals, sea, lemon curd, etc. decent weight on the palate and great acidity to balance the wine out giving it a long finish. Nice transparency. (673 views) | | Tasted by James Kim on 12/28/2018 & rated 90 points: From memory. Really took about 1 hr to open up. Tart apples and lemon with some minerals and herbs. Flavors become more harmonious over time and the last sip at the end of 2 hours was the best. Texture is moderately broad with excellent acids.Doesn't have the linear "zingyness" of the Briords but not as broad in the mouth as Gras Moutons. Sort of sits in the middle. Very nice with fried cod po boy. (791 views) | | Tasted by ciesel on 3/26/2018 & rated 89 points: Consistent with prior notes (1001 views) | | Tasted by chcook on 11/18/2016: PNP. Cork perfect. Color straw. Nose with some floral and apricot and salinity. Swishing shows mouth coating acidity that is mostly creamy and sipping shows polished fruit that persists for 30 secs. Not as complex or structured as the broods but Really nice and will be a perfect foil for shellfish. (1299 views) | | Tasted by ciesel on 9/24/2016 & rated 89 points: Very good food wine. Great acid and minerals. (1198 views) | | Tasted by CMN on 4/21/2016 & rated 85 points: Straw colored with a reticent nose of yellow and white fruits.
White citrus, primarily lemon with some grapefruit, and high acid. There's not a lot of complexity and texturally a tad thin. Finishes a bit short. Not meant for long term aging, prefer the other bottlings from this producer. (1234 views) |
| Domaine de la Pépière Producer websiteMelon de BourgogneMelon de Bourgogne or Melon is a variety of white grape grown primarily in the Loire Valley region of France. It is also grown in North America. It is best known through its use in the white wine Muscadet.
In the U.S., Federal law prevents "Muscadet" from being used for American-produced wine; only the full name of the grape, or the shortened "Melon" can be used.

Vineyards on weinagen-infoMuscadet de Sèvre-et-MaineMuscadet (mus-ka-DAY) is a region in the western part of the Loire valley, near the city of Nantes. White wines from Muscadet are made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape. They tend to be light in color and body, and are intensely mineral driven. They are thought to be a perfect complement to raw oysters from the nearby coast. Muscadets are gleefully paired, though, with any fresh shellfish or other seafood.
There are a couple of appellations in Muscadet, the best of which is considered to be Muscadet de Sevre et Maine. And the best bottles from that appellation are aged sur-lie, or on the lees, the musty mix of yeasts and other post-fermentation solids. This aging provides flavor complexity that can be missing in other bottles. |
