Cassis, blackberry, pencil shavings, lavender, violets and limestone with a plum finish. Better than their CdP offering and it costs less. Yum, yum! (443 views) | | Tasted by myofin on 12/15/2018 & rated 87 points: There was plenty of dark plummy fruit and lead pencil flavors, but the chalky tannins were unresolved. Tasted it over two days: the fruit became more nuanced, added some cedar notes, but the tannins were too strong. (723 views) | | Tasted by greidy on 9/30/2016 & rated 90 points: Nice ruby color, whitish narrow rim, mixture of red and blue fruits, some mushrooms and earth, good finish. Not bad at all... | Domaine de la Jaufrette Producer website2009 Domaine de la Jaufrette GigondasVarietals: Grenache 72%, Mourvèdre 14, Syrah 4%Red Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
