Tasted by ddemetri on 12/8/2023 & rated 87 points: Went well with Italian food. Wouldn't say it's a great value at $55. Did enjoy it but didn't find it memorable. Maybe I don't know what to look for.

Less stringent than expected. Definitely did well with even 30 mins of decanting. (921 views)
Tasted by Guido_Eeklo on 11/21/2023 & rated 85 points: Met de kids. Broccoli ovenschotel, met peperboursin, gehakt en kriel aardappeltjes. (812 views)
Tasted by Winewhiskeyfood on 9/3/2023 & rated 90 points: Textbook brunello tar, tart cherry , high tannin, softening toward the ends… (1133 views)
Tasted by StefanAkiko on 3/12/2023 & rated 92 points: Decanted for 5 hours, then returned to the btl.
No sediment at all.
Impactful wine with youthful tannins and happy cherry-based fruit.
A bit too overpowering today, and the acidity and tannic backbone will mellow over some years.
Perfect with Osso buco.
Last btl. (1790 views)
Tasted by mcromain1021 on 1/28/2023 & rated 92 points: Purchased a couple of these and my first one. Popped and poured and ready to go. This 2013 is singing right now. Smooth integrated tannins with strawberry, cherry, mushroom and leather. In the prime window now and will stay there 5+. Solid QPR too. (1727 views)
Tasted by Ulveström on 1/13/2023 & rated 92 points: This is in a perfect stage now! Dont think it will get better, at least not in my taste. Leather, tobacco, red cherries, cherrie seeds, velvety tannins, acid is there, finish is medium long. What a perfect wine both before and during cheese and other starters! (1516 views)
Tasted by David J Cooper on 5/19/2022 & rated 92 points: Clear medium light red. Forest floor, red cherry, spice and red flowers. Dry spicy red cherry flavours and a dry tannic finish.

Really nice secondary flavours and for the first time I noticed the tannins. Loved it. (2426 views)
Tasted by StefanAkiko on 3/27/2022 & rated 91 points: Beautiful light red color with a fantastic bricking.
The scent takes one directly to Tuscany, with both the right kind of cherries and the perfect earthiness.

In the mouth, this is terribly young, yet accessible. Recommendation: Save!

Beautiful acidity and polished tannins play over a platform of beautiful fruit that oozes of both cherries and that sun-ripened component that is not always good. In this case . . Mjae .. Maybe. Guess they should have harvested a little earlier. The finish has a food-loving bitterness that is lovely with anything tomato and ruccola…

Our recommendation is very different from Vlzat, as they will surely suggest you must drink it now. *pft*

——————————————-

(2340 views)
Tasted by CondorKhan on 2/16/2022 & rated 91 points: Fuzzy tannins, cherry fruit, cocoa. Just about starting to develop a bit of aged notes. Body is light but it still packs plenty of flavor. Drinking very well. (1991 views)
Tasted by timjr on 10/4/2021 & rated 90 points: Just OK. Bright and zippy, crisp tannins on the first day. Finished the bottle a few days later and it was a bit softer. But nothing really stood out about it. (2414 views)
Tasted by Rickets on 5/21/2021 & rated 91 points: 2hr decant. just entering it's drinking window. (2172 views)
Tasted by David J Cooper on 5/21/2021 & rated 88 points: This bottle was a lot riper and fresher than the previous bottle. Very confusing. (2822 views)
Tasted by walterb on 3/14/2021 & rated 90 points: Relatively ‘light’ Brunello. Nice fruits and tannines. Last glass best, but then it was already finished. So needs a bit of time.. (2590 views)
Tasted by David J Cooper on 7/13/2020 & rated 92 points: Fairly dark red. Medium nose, blackberry and black cherry fruit, earthy spiciest and some notes of wood smoke. Delicious berry flavours and a very nice textured dry finish.

Not an elegant wine but not a bruiser either. It delivers. (3833 views)
Tasted by asheio on 6/23/2020 & rated 88 points: Not very generous at the moment, quite shut down. Maybe with lots of air? Big upside, I believe. (3117 views)
Tasted by Wulffila on 4/11/2020 & rated 89 points: On the palate basically a Northern Rhône Syrah. Fleshy, but a nice balance. Good stuff! (3119 views)
Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 9/26/2019 & rated 90 points: Private Dining by TableAt7. BYO magnum bottle brought by me. Poured through Vinturi into large decanter and then back into bottle 2 hours before the dinner.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of classic sour red cherrries, red plum, tomato juice, Tuscan earth dirt, herbs. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), fine firm high tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of classic sour red cherries, soft red plums, fresh spicy herbs, tomato juice and pulp, some earthiness. With more air, more minty herbs and slight emerging leather. Medium+ finish.
Good quality. Will develop well over the next 3+ years. Probably not a long-ager though, especially in regular format. (4727 views)
Tasted by hfc on 7/28/2019: nose of alcohol, solvent, hint of vanilla oak. ripe cherries and leather flavours. compared to the 2006 I drank some years ago, this is riper, hotter-climate, less tannic, and much less floral. I prefer the 2006 significantly over this. (4120 views)
Tasted by barrkel on 7/21/2019 & rated 90 points: Light slightly crisp fruit with smoke and bacon meat overtones. Mild tannins. Great with food and not bad on its own. (3074 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 6/25/2019 & rated 92 points: Visiting Rome and Tuscany; 6/18/2019-7/2/2019 (Lazio and Tuscany, Italy): Col d'Orcia's 2013 Brunello emphasizes finesse over muscle. Medium-to-deep ruby in color, it has a beautiful core of black raspberry fruit, accented with notes of allspice, lavender, loamy earth and rose petals. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic, judiciously oaked and with seamless alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it wraps its flavors with plentiful fine-grained tannins and stays dense on the mid-palate. Finishing with medium length and good lift, this is an excellent "food wine" that should easily reach its 15th birthday. Drink now-2028. (4589 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 6/17/2019 & rated 91 points: Brunello di Montalcino 2013 tasting (Restaurant Vineum, Rotterdam, NL): Tasted blind. Ruby red core with some browning at the rim; clasically styled nose but with a nice freshness; mouthfilling palate, quite sticky tannins but balanced by ripe fruit; good resonance and length. (3562 views)
Tasted by pavel_p on 3/29/2019 & rated 91 points: Bought a few bottles out of curiosity as I have only tried a few bottles of 2013 Brunello. Coravin pour at home. Medium garnet. Herbal nose but more on the green than brown side, smooth palate with creamy oak, medium body, fine tannins, fine to medium finish. Very good wine but very atypical for Sangiovese. Not sure where I would have put this blind, young Côte Rôtie perhaps?

PS: rest of unopened bottle (Coravin) on day 2 shows a bit more typicity with sour red fruit notes but still an unusually smooth wine for Sangiovese. Fine to medium tannins on the mid palate. Good but not great (2912 views)
Tasted by Stanrocks on 2/12/2019 & rated 89 points: Nose is interesting between hazelnut and meat, quite disturbing when you think about it, but it shows nice notes, a bit of burned veggies, palate is smooth and fresh that is where the wines gets all of its interest, long enough to ask for more, the nice soft acidity brings a good length and a fresh finish. (2466 views)

Sangiovese

SANGIOVESE: (Pronounced "sahn-joh-vhe-se").
Sangiovese - Italy's claim to fame, the pride of Tuscany. Traditionally made, the wines are full of cherry fruit, earth, and cedar. It produces Chianti (Classico), Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montepulciano, Montefalco Rosso, and many others. Sangiovese is also the backbone in many of the acclaimed, modern-styled "Super-Tuscans", where it is blended with Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc) and typically aged in French oak barrels, resulting a wine primed for the international market in the style of a typical California cabernet: oaky, high-alcohol, and a ripe, jammy, fruit-forward profile.[16]

Semi-classic grape grown in the Tuscany region of Italy. Used to produce the Chianti and other Tuscan red wines. Has many clonal versions, two of which seem to predominate. The Sangiovese Grosso clone Brunello variety is used for the dark red, traditionally powerful and slow-maturing "Brunello di Montalcino" wine. The other is the Sangiovese Piccolo, also known under the historical synonym name Sangioveto, used for standard Chianti Classico DOC wines. Old vine derived wine is often used in the better versions, needing several years ageing to reach peak. A third clone, Morellino, is used in a popular wine blend with the same name found in the southern part of the province. Recent efforts in California with clones of this variety are very promising, producing medium-bodied reds with rich cherry or plumlike flavors and aromas. Among the available clonal versions are R6 and R7, derived from the Montalcino region of Italy, having average productivity/ripening and producing small berries on medium size clusters. R10 and R24 are well-recommended. R23, listed as deriving from the Emilia-Romagna region, has good vigor with medium-small clusters with earlier ripening. R102 derives from the Montepulciano region and reported to have average vigor with moderate productivity that results in higher sugar levels and good acidity from medium-small berries on medium-small clusters. Has synonym name of Nielluccio where grown in Corsica.
