Tasted by Dont_panik on 11/26/2020 & rated 90 points: Still very solid wine. Hint's of plum and anise on the nose. Medium body and some blueberry seeps into the palate. lasting finish. (1086 views)
Tasted by Mr.Overhill on 12/1/2019 & rated 92 points: Better than any CDR I've had recently, and better yet, no suggestion of Brett or overly tannic. Easily enough stuffing to last another five years. (1989 views)
Tasted by pifcho on 10/21/2019 & rated 91 points: Very tasty at this stage - definitely new world, but has good balance. Rich palate yet very easy to drink - a great party red for the winter. (2148 views)
Tasted by Mr.Overhill on 6/8/2018 & rated 93 points: Wonderful expression of sgm in this case, a spicy and oh so black pepper filled example of american left coast Rhone blends being able to rival CdPs at about half the price. This black fruited morsel had such an interesting midpalate and finish, some prune, plenty of pepper spice and a nice leather saddle component that I was glad I didn't wait any longer to try my first bottle. Unlike other '14s I've had this one was definitely ready to go - though still tannic the fruit and earthiness made it a great pop and pour. Thankfully it was even better after the second day. Just a great qpr from these guys. Do they ever make a boring wine? (2820 views)
Tasted by ChrisWagner on 3/3/2018 & rated 89 points: Reminds me of a really nice Cotes du Rhône without the brett.

Good now, but will be better in a year. (3251 views)
Tasted by STM82 on 2/7/2018 & rated 93 points: Outstanding balance of dark fruit and savory components woven together. There is an abundance of purple and black berries leading the way with forest floor and damp earth following. Great depth while staying light and bright. (2809 views)
Tasted by tcufletch on 1/12/2018 & rated 91 points: Opened the evening upon receipt; really great blend with the Syrah really presenting itself nicely; lavender and savory meats on the nose, slight smokiness; palate is the same, with nice red-fruited earthiness; medium tannins; little acid; easy drinking and enjoyable with and without food. (2149 views)
Tasted by tshepard on 12/5/2017 & rated 86 points: Not balanced. Too much earth in this for me and then it falls flat on the palate. (2491 views)
Tasted by bradleymichaelharris@gmail.com on 11/19/2017 & rated 93 points: Unbelievable steal for 20 bucks. Just a great, even blend gsm (2043 views)
Tasted by InFrom/HF on 7/14/2017 & rated 90 points: Decanted for around an hour, based on prior comments here. Really enjoyed it. (2416 views)
Tasted by ledocq on 4/9/2017 & rated 92 points: Desperately needs a one-hour decant but after that, we're off to the races. (2861 views)
Tasted by Millennial Drinkers on 2/9/2017 & rated 91 points: Deep ruby red. Purple floral and light red fruits on the nose. Even a little toasty. Moderate acidity (7/10) with a low plus to medium bodied. Elegant and light Rhone blend. Refreshing with a little cinnamon, red fruits, perfumey and light savory undertones. Long finish. Drink till 2027.

Red Rhone blend made up of 40% Grenache and 30% Mourvedre from the Steel Plow Vineyard. Also 30% Syrah from the Las Madres Vineyard. (2430 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
