Went of Viognier top end maybe even from the US. A very different GdP vs the rest of the vintages as this ( much like in 2019 when we had this last and failed to place it) is smokier, richer and probably with more Chardonnay than usual on top fo the toasty oak. Mango and exotic feels too, rich palate. Still a superb wine, joyful and just annoying we didn’t pick it up correctly. 93-94 (1398 views) | | Tasted by Burgnick on 4/14/2021: Ripe, big and explosive white with exotic fruit, beewax and honey. Prefer his 16 over 15. (1922 views) | | Tasted by fcxj on 4/14/2021 & rated 92 points: Well-balanced, less tension than 2014. (2074 views) | | Tasted by Zweder on 9/26/2020 & rated 93 points: For old times sake: Ripe yellow fruits and honey in the bouquet. On the palate a full bodied wine, a bit fat, bees wax, a touch of sweetness and good acidity. It is rich and floral, with pear, wisteria, and white plum notes. Plenty of acidity too and a very natural food friendly ripeness. White mineral dust comes through. I like this with a soft goat or raw milk cheese that’s not too strong. Or, a simple roast chicken or grilled pork chop. Let the wine shine. 7-10 years of great drinking ahead, but don’t wait. On the palate a bit special as well. The same fruit impressions and good acidity and length. (2247 views) | | Tasted by WoodieBayArea on 10/29/2019: NR as this was DEFINITELY not my style (due to varietal mix), I love the GdP rouge and so when seeing a bottle of the blanc I decided to try it, had known it would have some So. Rhone white varietals in it but thought it would be majority chardonnay, guess not as this was huge / bold / oily'ish / caramel / etc... not at all what I like, but as luck would have it my sis in law loved it... suspect it is a very well made example of some grapes (mostly Marsanne / Roussanne I think) but not my thing and therefore less than confident in my judgment... I personally def'ly DID NOT LIKE IT (nor did my wife) (1319 views) | | Tasted by Paul S on 9/20/2019 & rated 93 points: Richebourg + RSV for Mike and Pete's birthday (Holland Park, Singapore): My first time with this winemaker. 80% Rousanne, 10% Marsanne, 10% Chardonnay, this was a really nice white - a real surprise. The nose had a blast of exotic spice - suggestions of cloves and cardamoms almost - and then a touch of beeswax, some tropical fruit, and a base of poached pear, watermelon candy, and a squeeze of sugarcane juice. A really complex, entrancing nose. The palate was lovely too - it had a real crunch of sweet green pears infused with a warm spiciness, and more of that South of France beeswax character that just coated the midpalate and into a long, insistent, rather chalky, minerally finish. Really lovely stuff - this impressed me tremendously. (617 views) | | Tasted by Papies on 8/24/2019 & rated 93 points: Tasted blind and really perplexed us in pinning it down and actually failed miserably. Very smoky start to the nose ( toasty oak) almost of a red wine smoky side! The palate was creamy but with a firm presence and here the little add on of Chardonnay gives a roundness we felt. Nice rich side, a bit new worldish but in a good way. We feel better younger than older. Solid and a joy of a wine. 92-93 and should improve when the oak is assimilated. The nose is incredible (despite its youth), fill with ripe stonefruit, quince, lemon, mineral (even slightly reductive), floral, cardamon, spices and just a touch of oak at the back. The palate is equally rich showing full body, mineral, ripe stone fruit, ripe lime, spices and a thin oaky frame with a long finish. Outstanding wine, big but elegant in the same time, tasted like a Chateauneuf. I need to find more vintages of this masterpiece. (1185 views) | | Tasted by Ms. Bubblehead on 6/15/2019: First time had Grange Des Peres blanc I was seriously impressed by the wine. Still probably too young to consumer, pnp and slowed for 3 hours before serving, on the nose, cinnamon, banana cream, tropical fruits, minerals, herbs, on the palate, it was very expressive with good acidity and exotic spices, cinnamon, and lingering long long long finish. It is 80% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 10% Chardonnay, 1 ha, and vines are around 20 years old. (1440 views) |
