Tasted by MicklethePickle on 3/27/2024 & rated 92 points: Left this open for 5 days—and it is still very nice! Solid dark ruby. Pretty nose, with dark cherries and a bit of bell pepper that was more apparent on day 1, when I opened it for Bruce E. Before we left for a Sonoma trip. Fine and rich, regal fruit in the mouth. I dare say this will last for a long, long time. 5-12-16-9: 92/100. (512 views)
Tasted by ran.shoham on 2/5/2023 & rated 87 points: Very dominant acidity covering all other tastes. Seems unbalanced. (1362 views)
Tasted by Rani on 4/20/2022 & rated 87 points: A cool wine, highly acidic. I thought I was a little unbalanced. (1701 views)
Tasted by swamik00 on 3/11/2022: lots of rose petal! (1547 views)
Tasted by kostaslonis on 12/27/2021: Sampled at Oinoscent, courtesy of a customer
The wine shows bright ruby color
In the nose, the wine shows a bit musky note, a touch earthy, green pepper/capsicum, fresh red cherries/currants. With more time you get oak note and a vegetal freshness.
In the palate, the wine shows light body, high acidity that's out of balance at this point, lean, green pepper again, cherry, sour cherry, short finish
Exprected more but it did only stay for 10 minutes in the decanter. Feels way too young (1661 views)
Tasted by KJD45$ on 10/15/2021 & rated 90 points: Nose is herbaceous, strawberry and cherry..
Cherry center flavored, with an impression of green pepper and something else I can’t describe..but I have had the same impression from other chinons but lesser with this..
Good wine..maybe not for not for every palate.. (1896 views)
Tasted by MicklethePickle on 7/31/2021 & rated 93 points: This wine was tight on opening, very tight. But after a night in the bottle in the cellar, it has loosened up considerably to reveal a wine of exceptional purity and freshness. Medium-dark red-violet with red legs. Very pure beam of black cherry fruit in the nose; not complex, but notable for its purity. Yesterday, I noted a touch of green bell pepper, but that has disappeared, and in the mouth the wine delivers rich, balanced, piquant cherry flavors. This is gorgeous, and I can't wait to see how it develops over the years. 5-12-17-9: 93/100. (2216 views)
Tasted by Amerique on 7/21/2021 & rated 94 points: Fresh, rich, round black cherry with crushed stones and spice flavors, excellent structure, ample tannins and acid, lots of zest, long finish, wine needs time (1609 views)
Tasted by 560 B&W on 3/24/2021 & rated 93 points: Really tremendous stuff. Barely ready. Zippy and fresh. 13.5% (1483 views)
Tasted by Larslatour on 3/10/2021 & rated 93 points: Beautiful fresh wine. Happy! (1303 views)
Tasted by rossi.wine on 5/15/2018 & rated 94 points: Barrel sample - not bottled yet. A worthy conclusion to this impressive line-up of Joguet's 2016 Chinon. On the nose floral notes, dark fruit, spices, crushed stones. Mineral, tight and fresh on the palate with powerful tannins and masses of fruit lurking underneath. Impressive length. This will require some patience, but should be absolutely superb. 93-94+(+?) (2830 views)
