Tasted by CurtaVino on 11/27/2021 & rated 90 points: Lovely dessert wine. Well balanced, has concentrated pear aromas. High alcohol for a dessert wine, but you do not notice it. (361 views)
Tasted by GTFreek on 9/25/2019: Similar to previous note. (664 views)
Tasted by GTFreek on 10/10/2018: 50/50 Moscato Ottonel/Vidal, made with a passito process. Nose shows creme brulee, candied orange, vanilla, plastic, deep yellow honeysuckle. Palate is quite sweet, a little out of balance in that way, similar orange and candied notes, sugared pear, honey, roasted pineapple, finishes sweet. I'm looking at a tech sheet that says 12g/L of sugar which would be barely off-dry but think it's supposed to say 120g/L. Likened to an orange muscat, denser than Sauternes with less complexity. Coming from Virginia, it is interesting and likely unlike anything else in that state. Best use of this would be to lay it down for 10 years and see if it develops complexity to balance things out, or drink it 1/2 oz at a time. (722 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 5/28/2018 & rated 90 points: Virginia Governor's Cup Wines: Rich orange color. Gorgeous aromatics of apricot jam, orange marmalade, spiced tea, yellow raisins. The palate is rich and plush and honeyed, but acidity keeps it fresh. Orange marmalade, spiced tea, honeycomb, almond, graham cracker, a hint of floral olive oil. So luscious and sweet yet fresh and spicy. 50% Moscato Ottonel and 50% Vidal. 13.8% alcohol, 14% residual sugar. (1061 views)

Moscato Ottonel and Vidal grapes are harvested young, to capture the fruit’s acidity, and in a traditional Passito method, allowed to air dry and raisinize on racks open to outdoor ventilation for months, concentrating flavors and sugars. A lengthy fermentation is induced naturally in older barriques, where aging continues for another year, in protracted lees contact, continuously stirred. Incomparably vigorous and luscious, every vintage is destined for lengthy cellaring.

White Blend

"White blend" means the wine is made from a blend of two or more different white varieties - or in some cases a blend of pink or red varieties that are vinified white, ie. without any skin contact.
A blend of Antao, Arinto, Rouperio.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
